For those of you have used both the original X bullets and now the newer TSX bullets, Give me an idea of how they compre for Copper fouling, Expansion, accuracy and just overall terminal performance. I liked the X bullets but I got tired of trying to clean the copper fouling from the barrel. Also whats your expierence with the coated bullets? Thanks.
There is no comparison between the two bullets as far as copper fouling is concerned. With the tsx copper fouling is virtually non existant,if anything, even less than with nosler bullets.I also find the tsx much more accurate in my rifles and they produce more velocity before showing pressure signs. On game, the tsxexpands more reliably and does not shedit's petals as easily, due to a redesigned nose cavity. The xlcs do not copper foul, but they are no more accurate than the standard x in my guns. They perform the same as the regular x on game.
Thank you sir. I quess its time to try them again. Never did have a problem with the performance. Thanks again.
Yep, I was really antibarnes for years. Some guns shot em,most hated em.But tried the TSX and very impressed. Fouled less than a partition. Still havn't harvesting anything.
Same time tried expanders in my muzzleloader. Shoots sub2MOA even at 200 yards.
Below is a 180gr tsx recovered after it angled through an elk and destroyed a large section of it's spine. It was fired from a 300ultramag at 3380fps and was still travelling at over 2900fps on impact. The maximum diameter is .800" and all four petals are intact.
I have had the same experience with the new TSX's. However, the old XLC bullet will foul a barrel big time if the velocity is high enough. We were pushing a 150 XLC in .30 caliber to about 3730 fps in a 30-378 Wby. Even in a very smooth Hart barrel, copper fouling was terrible.
If Barnes would have introduced the shooting world to the TSX first off, they would likely have a much bigger market share of the bullet business than they do currently. A lot of folks got anti-Barnes over the fouling issue and have moved on to greener pastures.
