Default Anybody reloading for a 270wsm?

Just got a Kimber in a 270wsm and was going to start reloading for it. I am going to be using a 140gr Scirocco bullet and dont have a clue on what powder to try. Any thoughts?

I've loaded the 140gr Nosler AccuBonds in my buddies 270WSM for him 2 years now. I don't know any of the Scirocco load data, but I do know that RL19 works very well with the Nosler Bulletts.

I just started loading for the 270 WSM. I bought the 26 inch barreled Savage Accu-Trigger Varmit model. The first load I tried was very accurate and I may just stop ther. From the Sierra Manual, they list their accuracy load as 62.7 Grains of IMR 4350. This with the 130 Grain Sierra Pr0-HUnter bullet. I dropped down to 60 Grains to start and got groups of just over 1/2 inch.( 3 shot) groups. This load however just chronographed at a bit over 3000 fps.

For now I will stick with that load because 3000 fps is plenty fast to shoot the Pro-Hunter bullet. Although its tougher than the Game king, its not a premium or bonded bullet. Out to 400 yards its plenty of load for mule deer which is the first task it will undertake.

As Rammer mentioned, the Sierra manual gets their top velocities with RE-19 for the 130 grain bullet. For all the 270 bullets in fact. Check some other manuals or go to Hodgdons site as they may differ.

I load my Savage with 140g failsafes and TSXs with 68g RL25 and federal 215 primers. Usually 3 shot groups will be around 0.5 in. I would say that this load may be a little hot, but I have not had any troubles.

My go to powder when shooting anything heavier than the 130gr bullets is Retumbo. Have had great success shooting 140gr Accubonds and 150gr Partitions with this powder. I was using H4831 with the 130's, but have since switched to RL-19 as I can get more velocity and similar accuracy.
