Does anybody reload this round? I have been trying to find loads for a 60-70gr bullet but can only find loads for 40-55gr. I found some .224 70gr Barnes X bullets and wanted to try them out. I have the Lyman 48th Edition and a Hogdons manual. But like i sad they only go as high as 55gr.
I haven"™t reloaded for my 222 yet but Hornady does have 60 grain v-max, soft point & hollow point bullets listed in there sixth edition reloading book...
No clue about the twist rate. My father gave me this Contender a few years ago. It is one of the First generation, with the 10" oct. barrel. I have been shooting 50gr. Nosler balistic tips out of it. Even with the short barrel it gives 1/2" or better 5 shot groups. I never thought it would perform that well. I use it for Coyotes and Bobcats here in Georgia. I stretchitslegs on groundhogs back in Virginia every Summer. I just want to try it out and see what it can do with the bigger pills. I have seen .223s shoot pretty well with 80 an 90grs. If it doesn't work? OH,WELL... a least i got to shoot.
If you get the triple deuce to where she will toss heavy bullets, I would like to hear how they do for you. I never reloaded anything heavier than 55 grns, and mostly used Hornady 50 grn SX's that were so explosive I would not use anything else.
