Went to order my dies and stuff for my new 460. Thought about loading the barnes 200gr. Hey want 20 dollars for 20. What do they think they got there, gold bullets.
well they have a premiere bullet that performs perfectly every time IMO. You get what you pay for
Well, no offense, but you can swallow that and smile and say its real good. I will keep on killing alot cheaper and smarter. I swore barnes off about 10 years ago, and then gave them another chance with the triple shock little over a year ago. They are just not competitive.
I have killed abunch of deer from muzzleloader with XTP-mags launched out at 2000fps, never had one to fall apart or fail to expand. I can't say that with barnes.
Barnes bullets are too pricey for me. I have a hard time paying $25/box of 50 when I can pay half that for a box of 100 with equivilant terminal performance and accuracy.

I have to admit that I am not a premium bullet fan. I killed a bunch of game with good old Hornady Interlock bullets in 6mm, 7mm, .270 and .30 cal. but I thought I would give them a try in my Savage 116FLSS .30-06, What a shocker. The Hornadys, Nosler Accubonds and Ballistic Tips, and Sierra Game Kings shot well in this rifle. But the Barnes TSX bullets (all 180 gr BTW) were exceptional in the accuracy department. Now the only reason I tried them was curosity and the fact that I may use this rifle as a back up for elk. I will continue to use the less expensive Sierras for whitetails but most likely use the Barnes for elk. That is of course if I don't hear negative feedback from you guys.

How many big game animials do you guys harvest per year??? 50??? 100???? I just don't see the cost ofa fewbullets for the "actual hunting" being all that expensive....
I'm a big fan of "premium" bullets, and once i have a load worked up for my rifle, other than one or two shots per year to check the sights, i only fire my premium bullets at game.... I then buy up several boxes of those same bullets to have from then on....
I can always buy a very similar lower priced bullet to practice with..... Keep in mind, i'm talking about big game rifles here....
I don't harvest any big game, just mostly hogs and coyotes. This year with the .223, I'm on pace to hit the 100 hog mark by the end of the year. Predators probably only half that. Coons and smaller vermin about twice that.

DM, most of us won't admit it but the fact is we are more shootist than hunters. I know I spend many many more hours at the range than hunting. Do I really need all that shooting, no, but thats what I like, and in the mean time get ready to hunt with it by loading what we shoot.

If you were to hunt big game such as moose and elk,premium bullets like the tsx can be well worth the price.
Stubble, I cna't figure you out. One day, you say no need for premiums and bullistic tips do just fine, and you killed all these animals with bullistic tips launched at 3400fps, now you get a TSX shooting, and its "can be worth the price".
My beef is not with TSX, its the 200gr .451 460SW pistol bullets. It cost well over twice that of a TSX.
