My guns have always liked IMR 4350 and H414 with light bullets. There is a very accurate varmint load I got from Ed Matunas many years ago that has shot well in many .270's - 90 grain Sierra Hollowpoint with 55 gr. of IMR 4350 - have used it for lots of varmint hunting applications. It shoots to the same spot as the 140 grain big game hunting loads, so it gives you the opportunity to use one rifle for a little varmint hunting during the big game season. Recoil is as mild as a .243.

Roskoes comment on the 90 gr Sierra HP is worth considering, as I have shot a lot of them over the years, they tend to throw a tight group, and pretty near the point of aim of my big game loads! This bullet does not seem to be finicky about whatever powder is under it! Explosive performance on woodchucks & ground squirrels is the norm.

Thanks will give them a try.I don't varmit hunt but do a lot of shooting at the range, have shot several 270 rifles but never owned one (do have a 270 wsm though).Set one up for a fellow last week useing sierra 130's and R-19 and it shot so good (one-hole at 100yds)thought it was time I got one to play with.
I tried the 110's in my 270 wsm and that shot really well, have a friend that has a 270 sendero and it will really drive tacks.
The reason I got the sps I bought one in 22/250 and it has shot one holers at 100 and less than an inch at 300 yds So hopeing the 270 shoots as well.

I use 58 grains of IMR 4350 with the 110-grain Sierra for all varmints up to coyote.

53 gr H414 works great for me also.
