I have not reloaded any pistol shells for a while but I got my stuff out last night to load some 44 Mags. I went to crimp them with my Lee factory crimp die but I can't remember how to adjust the darn thing. Can anyone cast some light on this? I seemed to have lost the instruction sheet that came with it. Thanks. I have reloaded thousands of rounds with those factory crimp dies. Mostly 45 ACP's. I usually don't use the factory crimp dies for the 44 special loads but I sure need to cripm the heavy 44 Loads. I am loading the Cast Performance 300 Gr. LFNGC's. I also may have to change my seater plkug as it digs into the nose of those a bit.
Thanks a lot. That sure clears that up.Its funny how something a guy has done so many times just slips away from you. I had a big heart attack about seven years ago and every since then I find little bits and pieces of things that are not in the old memory vault anymore. My wife thinks that its just things she tells me that get lost but this proves she is wrong.
James you aint dumb! I've read enough of your post to know you're on top of your game. I have a Dillon 550 in my reloading room that I only use a few times a year, it's set up for 40 S&W and I have to refresh my memory when I use it. Put a welding lead or a tig torch in my hand and I can show you something, if I would shoot and reload as much as I weld then I'd be as good as you.
As I recall you screw the die in until it's touching the case then 1/4 to 1/2 turn more depending on how much crimp you want. I'm in the same boat when I break out some of the oddball stuff in my reloading cabinet. When I finally get around to loading pistol I usually will load around 500 rds so I won't have to do it again for a while.

Don't feel bad, James. I was out fly fishingyesterday afternoonand, for the life of me, could not remember how to tie a perfection loop. Finally just cranked out a big ugly surgeon's loop and got on with it. Laying in bed later at 2 AM the light bulb finallycame on . . . . . .
I hope this doesn't get worse.
