Default .300 Win Mag loads please

Hopefully in a month or so I'll be getting my rifle back from HCR with a new Lilja tube chambered in .300 Win Mag. I've got no experience with this cartridge and would like to know what loads have worked best for some of you who have reloaded for it. I'd be particularly interested in loads that use the 168 gr. Barnes TSX if anyone has worked up a load using that bullet.

Oh mama, that should be a nice gun from HCR. 80gr of RL22 should do the job with 165gr accubond.

Sorry only thing I worked up with TSX is 308 and 300RUM.

Well, RL22 is probably what I'm going to start with. I'm interested in the TSX because of the success I've had with it in other cartridges. In my experience with 'emthey're accurate and you don't have to worry about howthey'll perform on game.

However, I'm also interested in loads using other bullets too, so bring them on.

Solitary Man

This is reallyan old load, but it was the best load I ever had - I can not even tell you how many elk it has drained... from 184 yards down to and almost hate to say this but down to 11 yards.

200 grain Nosler Partition and/or 200 grain Sierra SPBT
72.6 Grains of IMR 7828

http://www.imrpowder.com/imr7828.html

Again this is an old load because it works and I have the supplies...

Good luck in your search - quality gun - best caliber

Not in the same class as a TSX, but my most accurate load was a 180gr Nosler Ballistic Tip ahead of 72gr of IMR4350. I never had any luck with Rl22 ... couldn't get the accuracy I was looking for. 180gr Hornady SP's also shot great with the above load of 4350. Both bullets were right at 3000fps across my chrono.

Good luck! ... Shockwave

Had good results with IMR7828 in the 300 wm & wsm with 180 - 200 gr Nolsers. One that shot really well recently was 180 AB under 74gr 7828 with WLR primers out of friends 300 wm.

Haven't loaded any Barnes yet for the 300's, sorry.

Good Luck

I tried the Federal Premium factory loads with that bullet (TSX) and my Model 70 300 Win mag hated them! What a waste of $43!!

What I load for mine are 150 grain Nosler ballistic tips with 79 grains of H4350 power and Winchester Large primers. My gun loves them and I get 3/4" 3-shot groups from a bench at 100 yards with them.

Good Luck!

My brother has had excellent results with the Barnes 168 grain TSX and Hodgdon H1000.
