Yeah, I have the same gun. I think most short mags are that way. I just load them as long as the magazine will allow. I think mine is like 2.866 overall length.

I used to worry about reaching the rifling, but anymore I just start loading my max that I can and still fit in my mag. I then start moving back. I only have 2 guns I can reach the rifling and still fit in my mag. One is a 270 and the other is a 7mm-08. And I have like 10 rifles or more. The STW's RUM's and even WSM's like to have a little freebore to get max performance.

If you can't get that bullet to fly good, and your heart is content on that bullet, try 2 different powders preferably one slower than you tried and one faster.

There are a few bullets out there that seem to work good in most guns. Like the accubond, and another is gameking.

I read somewhere that the WSM are more accurate if they dont touch the lands. I have no idea why.

Well, maybe maybe not, depends on alot of factors. How perfect is the chamber to begin with, how even are the lands, etc, etc.
