I have had two sets of the regular redding dies. One was ok, and the other caused my cases to be be knocked out of round. The expander ball stem was not centered at all.

So I went back to RCBS. As a new guy if I was you, I would stick with the simple RCBS. Don't try to get fancy yet and buy competition dies. If you are a long range target guy, the competition seater dies and thier competition neck sizers are excellent but you can buy 5 sets of RCBS dies for them.

Redding makes excellent products in my experience. As far as dies are concerned, what you'll need to get started is a full length die and a seater die. I'm sure Redding makes a set that contains those two dies. Please note that I'm not talking about their Competition dies. You could go that route, but their Comp. dies are considerably more expensive. I'd get started with the standard dies if I were you.

Personally, if I were you I'd buy a reloading manual and read up on the steps to reloading. It will explain what equipment (dies, etc...) you need. Hornady, Nosler, Sierra, Lyman, Speer and some other companies put out some good reloading manuals. You could also go to RCBS's website. I believe they have an online guide.

I would go with a Redding Series A Deluxe Die Set .280 Rem.(RED84142). It is a three die set (full length, neck sizer, and bullet seater). It runs $49.99 + $4.75 s&h @ www.grafs.com. Good luck.
