I load my turkey loads with 2 1/4 oz #6 shot one year I did try 2 1/4 oz #7.5 which patterned very well putting 68 pellets in the turkey head target at 30 yards. I never did use the #7.5 load on a turkey. I honestly dont think mixing shot sizes would do anything to improve a turkey load it could really mess up a good pattern if say compared to a load with only #5 or #6 shot. IMO i wouldnt bother. every turkey ive killed was with #6 shot and ive taken them asfar as 40 yards. I just dont see the point of using any larger shot.

Been there tried that!
One shell would pattern well the next a turkey could walk tru.
Long story short don't waist your time.

Get a catalog from these guys.
http://www.ballisticproducts.com/
They have several books on reloading that goes way beyond clay targets.
If you can reload a duplex or triplex load consistantly with the help of shot buffer you can load a great turkey load.

i have been relodaing my own turkey loads for 4-5 yrs. i use 3in shell with #6 shot. this patterns the best in my gun at about 30 yrds. On the other hand my brother's gun patterns better with 3.5in shell with #4 at the same distance. i would say your best bet is to try a bunch of different combinations, better hurry theseason is almost apon us.
