45 ACP OAL

Hi all, just started reloading and am working up loads for my 45ACP. I am starting off with a 230 gr RNL, 4 gr bullseye, federal primers and winchester cases. Book says that 1.190 is the min OAL and 1.275 is the max. Does anyone know what the perfered OAL for this load might be.

I would stick with 1.250". Shorter lengths often give feeding issues, and trying to push the COL to maximum can cause bullets to hang up in the magazine. Good luck. Roskoe

You are going to have to experement with C.O.L. between 1.190"~1.275", and see where the handgun it cycles best. Good luck.
