SB die question

I purchased a set of SB dies to reload for my 760. Now I will be loading for a bolt action in the same caliber. My question is, can I use the resizing die for both the pump and the bolt? Should I fireform and just partial full length to avoid touching the case? Im kinda confused HELP!!!!!

You could certainly use the same die for both. The small base dies reduce the case body dimensions all the way down to that of a factory round, which is sometimes necessary to get reloads to function in semi auto rifles.

When you go to resize brass fired in the bolt gun, you could just size about 2/3 of the neck and, if you are reloading a caliber with a fair amount of body taper, the die probably won't work the brassmuch in the web area. Sooner or later, though, the bolt will close a little hard on the neck sized cases and you are going to have to bump the shoulder back just a little. For that I would try to purchase a separate FL sizing die or a body die. Redding has these for sale as a single item (not part of a set).

thanks Roskoe, I guess I could have been more specific. Its for an 06 and I guess what I was trying to get at was,can I full length resize the cases for the bolt action with the SB die or would it set the case back too far. But you answered my question. I will work up a batch of brass for the bolt gun and keep them separate from the pump stuff.
