Well, you could load both calibers with IMR 4350. It is ideal for the .243 and a little fast for the 7 Rem Mag, but very good for accuracy bullets in the 140 grain and 150 grain weights. RL 19 is another powder that could work for both. I would use Winchester 120 primers. Bullets would depend greatly on what you are intending to hunt. Am I missing the substance of your question?

RL22 for the 7Mag. There are so many great loads for the 243 it isn't even funny. What is your barrel length, twist and what is it that you are going to kill???? Fox, Rabbits, Bobcats, Coyotes, Deer, Elk????? The list is endless. Regards, Rick.

MT, if I may help. Next time you ask this type of question, if you phrase it a little different you will get a more detailed responses. Try something like this. ***Hypothetical of course.

Hi everyone my name is M.T. I will be reloading soon for 2 differetn guns and was wondering if anyone could help. First is my Remington 700 in 7mm Rem mag. I plan on using 139 HornadySST's for harvesting deer. Can anyone recommend a powder to start with? Second is my Ruger M77 in 243. I dont know what podwer or bullet I want to use but I will only be Coyote hunting with it with shots well over 200 yrds possible. Any help would be appreciated. The more detail you give this forum, the more answers you will get. Just trying to help not being smart.

Of course you should start reloading. It was the single most important factor in boosting my interest in shooting. It did not generate extra money but only because I suddenly shot much more than earlier. Compared with factory ammo my loading equipment was at break even after 200 rounds. But mind you. Reloading will take time and if you do not consider it quality time maybe you should take it into consideration. It takes me about one hour to complete 30 rounds from start to finish.

Any powder manufaturer can get you any loading data you need to get started.

There are several informative sites on the internet but one of my favorites is /www.varmintal.com/arelo.htm www.huntingtons.com could link you onward as well as supply you. Try/www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Lobby/1221/new_reld.htm
or accuratereloading.com/

Good luck

I wouldn't use a hornady SST bullet on a Jack Rabbit. I had nothing but trouble with them and went back to the Noslers....Not sure about the BT's either. My son shot a nice buck with the 150gr Sierra Pro Hunter at 200 yards.....never quivered. Sometimesthe simple stuffis better than the high priced stuff....JIMHO. For me the RL22 is terrific powder for the 7mag and just about anything is good in the 243. Had poor results with the Combined Tech 95 grainers and so-so with the 85gr Sierras. May go to a Speer next year. Regards, Rick.

For the 7mm I would use RL22, I have been using that powder for quite a few years now, and no matter what bullet I use, it shoots awesome. You might want to buy a load book for both 7mm and 243, as this is a lot cheaper than buying all the nosler, hornady, speer, etc load books.

If you want to use 139gr SSTs out of the 7mm, use RL 22, and work up to max load. This load shoots excellent out of my Browning A Bolt.

I switched to the 140gr AccuBond this year, and it shoots great, and knocks deer dead in their tracks.

For 243 and deer I also use the 95gr CT Ballistic Tips, can't remember for sure on my powder, I can look it up if you would like some loads. Also have a few good coyote loads worked up for this gun as well.
