Default Resizing issue

Ran some 7mm Mags through the decapper/neck resizer 2 nights ago. Went to Resize them and some would not slide over the pilot in the trimmer. I had to put about 20% back through the neck resizer to expand the neck again. Never had that happen before.
Thought I was dreaming but it was obvious with the old primmer out I put them in that die to begin with
Anyoneever have this happen? By the way the brass was factory Federal that was never reloaded.

One other question>>> Anyone place a little lube inside case so it slides easier over the neck resizer? I am always thinking "any lube" inside would not be good.
Thanks

Well maybe it"™s not a good idea or someone might not approve but I"™ve used a Q-tip to put a very small amount of lube on the inside of the neck to help for resizing. Makes for an easier job.

I have, for years, used a small nylon bristle brush with a sparing amount of RBS Case Lube II on it for inside neck lubing.

What kind of neck sizer are you using? Case necks of new brass are more ductile than those of fired brass. So they don't spring back as much as fired brass. If you use a lee die with a madrel the new brass will usually size smaller than fired brass.

IMHO,sizing brass, with out lubing the necks, will some times causes the mandrel to pull the shoulder,of the brass, up! Then the brass doesn,t fit the chamber. You don't find this out until you try to load the case into your gun.[like when you go to the woods or the range]
I have tried mica, case lube and graphite.I stayed with the graphite. It is dirty, but works the best,as a dry lube. The case lubes, work well, also, but I don't care for the greasey left overs. After using the case lube,I tumble the cases in corn cob media,to get it out of the neck.
Mica,I don't see any advantage over not using anything.

Mountain Man >>>>> Makes sense, pull the neck up would also make the case narrow..hence not fit over the pilot.
Lube in the inside has always been something I shy away from for fear of changing the burn of the powder. I can tumble when complete to get the "grease" out of the necks.
Thanks!
