Default Update loading equipment

My wife, God bless her, got me a gift certificate at my favorite gun store. After mulling it over for awhile, I have decided to update my loading press. Been using an old Pacific 3-ram press for over 30 years, and am going to retire it. I have electronic scales, trimmer, powder measure, etc., so I am looking for a more modern press. What do you guys out there like, and why? Thanks in advance for the comments and advice.

well it depends on what yea want to spend. I had the Lee press that came in the combo kit for about 5 years never had a problem. I moved out here to California and have not had a chance to shot had it stored in a box and it got bent all to heck on me. But as long as you take care of it seams to be a real good press. I used to put 3in1 oil on it about onced every 2 to 3 weeks and was smooth as could be. So if your looking for something nice and cheap that is the one to use. I am looking at getting the Crusher from Lyman myself why i dont know i have a few pieces of lyman gear and it seams to be good stuff. Some of the guys i know likes RCBS just a little expensive. Hope this helps.

Don,

I guess I'm old fashioned. I like the single stage presses . I use an RCBS JR3, Rockchucker, and a Lyman turret press. I'd say the newest one I have is 30 years old.as for newer single stage presses, the RCBS Rockchucker or the Redding would be my first choice.

To be perfectly honest,I intend to keep using my 20 year old rockchucker foras long as I am reloading.I see no reason to change if you are happy with your equipment. That being said, over the years,I did buy and electronic scale and an electric multi station than inside and outside chamfers brass and that cleans primer pockets.

I have been using a Hornady Projector press for 18 years. I decided I now load too many calibers and not enough of each so I was changing dies too often (not really just in my mind) I purchased another press identical to my old one! I simply know the quirks of the press I already had.
I do like the features of the new Hornady presses such as lock-n-load.

I would go with a RCBS Rockchucker Supreme. Good luck.
