Copper Swarf on Barnes .270 TSX
I am new to reloading and this Saturday my buddy and I loaded up some 140 grain .270 Barnes Triple Shock X bullets and we noticed that there was some swarf or fillings from the bullet that was caught on the edge of the casing mouth. I easily cleaned it off with my thumb nail but I thought it was odd.
Just to be specific, with the bullet seating, the first groove is exposed and a hair of the second is exposed where the swarf or filings collect. Also, the Winchester brass is brand new (& .270 not 30/06) right out of the bag and we resized and deburredthem all prior to reloading..
When shooting them, we had excellent repeatable groupings in either of our rifles (Sako and Win Mod 70) with the same load and we're very happy with the performance so not too concerned, mostly curious.
Anybody experience this? Are doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance.
