Default Newbie Reloading questions II

I'm new to reloading and have the Lee Aniversary kit with the RCBS full length re-sizing die set, a Cabelas dial mic, the sierra & nosler reloading manuals. I have a scoped Sweede 96, 6.5 x 55, with a 24" barrel.
I have 40-60 remmington cases, so I know ordering more is in required. I will be also ordering a powder trickler , kenetic bullet puller, and some ammo boxes for reloads. How's Midway for prices/service?
Anything else I'll need offhand?

My question is for powders, there are so many choices, how do you narrow the selection without actually buying each brand? In another post, RL22 & RL25 seemed to be accurate, but is this a good way to start?

For bullets, I've read sweedes like 120gr and heavier bullets. is this true?
For whitetails, I'm going to start with a 140gr, it seems to be the prefered factory load for some reason. But Id like to use it on coyote as well, and a 140 seems too much. Thanks for any help..

Sounds like you have everything you need for now. The best prices I have found are from www.grafs.com When I pick a powder, Iusually use the one with the manufactures accuracy, hunting, or highest velocity load. Good luck.

The swedish 96 barrels have a very tight twist rate and were originally meant for 160 gr bullets. A 140 gr bullet will serve you well. Try RL-22 first, start at 42 gr and work up carefully to 46.5 gr- I wouldn't go any higher, every rifle is different, and I've heard of swedes locking up at even lesser charges. You'll probably find a sweet spot right around 44.0 gr, a 46- 46.3 gr RL-22 load with a 139- 140 gr bullet is about as close to the original 'Prickskyyte' or military sharpshooter load, but work up carefully as this is nearly the maximum load. When you resize your brass, only resize the neck- swedish rifles have pretty generous chambers, so once you fireform the brass, you don't want to work the brass any harder than you need to. Just set your FL die so that it only lightly contacts the shoulder of the brass, don't follow the manufacturer's directions of setting the die down to 1/4 turn past contact with the shell holder.

Don't worry about trying to get the bullets to touch the lands- it isn't going to happen no matter how much wishful thinking is involved. Just seat them so that the bearing surface fo the bullet is at least 0.264" into the case.

How's Midway?

Excellent. I buy most of my reloading stuff from them. Another good one is http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/ They often have some stuff that's cheaper than Midway, I would say take the time to shop and compare, Ithink both places require a $40 min order.
