Don't have it at hand, butI have seen data for 150 grain bullets. At reasonable ranges, the 125 will work ok for whitetails...by reasonable, I mean 100-125 yards. Think of it as a long handgun.

I have two excellent MAXIMUM handloads that I use in my SKS AND CZ 527 carbine. Both are very accurate, and both are maximum in my guns, so, they MUST BE WORKED UP IN ANY OTHER GUN FROM A POINT AT LEAST 5% below this! The same precautions apply that you would use in approaching a maximum load in ANY rifle!

Win. cases: (yes, WIN. makes brass & loads this round too!) Federal 210 primers:

Load # 1 -150 grain Sierra Game King flatbase .308"spitzer softpoint w/ 31.5 grains of H-335 powder. V @ 10' from muzzle = 2300 FPS

Load # 2-180-grain Speer .311"ROUND NOSE softpoint w/28.5 grains of H-335 powder. V @ 10' from muzzle = 2000 FPS from CZ 527, 1950 FPS from SKS.

The 7.62X39 is considered a ".31" caliber or a .303, if using the British system of caliber designation.

That depends on the rifle. Most 7.62x39 rifles are .310 or .311. Some like the older Ruger Mini-30's are said to have a .308 barrel. I have a Ruger Mini-30 of the .308 version. It will shoot .308, .310 and .311 safely. It shoots the .308 bullets better however. You can also shoot .308 bullets in the .310 barrels, just might not be as accurate as the .310 or .311.

7.62x39, .303 brit, 7.62x54r, and 7.65x53 mauser are often referred to as 'fat .30s'

I really love it! A very nice little carbine. The only way they could improve it would be to make it with a Mannlicher style stock! (And chamber it for the .250 Savage. )
