Default This never happens to me

I got a 7mm08 Remington 700 BDL Deluxe with Varmit special barrel at an estate sale for 300 dollars. It was made in 1981. I figured what can it hurt. So I didn't have any Varget left so I try IMR4350 with 140gr gamekings. I can't believe this. Its a fine gun. This is my loads from 43gr to 46gr. at 100 yards. Its heavy but what the hey, it shoots well.

Then I take a swing at 200 yards with the extra 45gr loads I had.

A dead deer every time .

Looks like you got a shooter.
It will make a fine stand rifle.

I have a 7/08 in a rem classic and too was surprized that the I 4350 shot so good ,working up a load for the barnes tripple shock. The 120 gr was pretty fast too out of the 24 in barrel.

It sure looks like a keeper and the price was right. You"™ve mentioned your 7mm08 a couple time but never mentioned what rifle it was. So now we know. I cant wait to get my 7mm08. Hopefully soon but I suspect it wont be till the end of July. Good shooting....

From my figureing, I think all I am getting out of it is 2700fps. I had to shoot at a covered range so couldn't chrono. My buddy mossy stood me up. He's a punk, what can you say.

I am going to try 47 and 48gr. I didn't have a one pressure mark with 46gr. If I can get them shooting clovers, I will keep 4350. If not, I got to give 4064 or varget its try.

Its just so rare for me to get a hot dog deal on a used gun and one day out, bam, its shooting clover leafs. Usually I have to sink two more range sessions, have the barrel floated, put some glass in it.

But this one is pressure bedded, walnut stock, with no glass whatsoever.

BC - looks like you fell into the bed of roses on this used gun deal. Once you get dialed in on a load, I would try to determine the degree to which the rifle holds zero from day-to-day and week-to-week. You may still wind up having to free float and glass bed it. Or get a quality synthetic stock.

Killjoy alert.

You just couldn't let me enjoy the moment without throwing out the facts could you Roskoe. Could let me live in my fantasy world for until the next firing.

Yea, I realize I might have to do some work. But the most important thing for me is it shows much promise. Believe me, I have had some 700's that no matter how much cash you shoved in it, besides barrel replacement, it wouldn't shoot.
