I don't believe you have sinned either Mr. Pirk. I commend you for taking the time to sit and talk with someone who is defending our country. My hat's off to every man and woman in the military who is putting their life on the line, and I thank you for your gesture of appreciation you've shown to that soldier.
You clearly stated that you did not lead this soldier into a drunken state, and this is what is condemned in the bible. Being intoxicated can very easily lead one into all types of sin because it impairs our sense of good judgement.
A very important point was brought up too. As a Christian, we are not to allow our individual freedom to become a stumbling block to someone else. For when we do so, we are not acting in love. If a Christian comes from a background of bondage to alcohol, we need to be sure our personal freedom doesn't cause that brother or sister to stumble for whom Christ died. Because alcohol was such a destructive influence in that person's life, for that person, any amount of alcohol is sin. And as a Christian, we are to consider that brother or sister in higher esteem then ourselves. As was said in an earlier post:

Chuck, you mentioned a good point about TV. I'm in agreement with you on that subject. Though we have a TV in our house, we rarely watch it. Most of what's on there just has no redeeming value, IMO. And what many consider entertainment, cost Christ His life. If I'm not careful, I can easily find myself being entertained by what Jesus died for. I do watch the news and I enjoy programs that are educational and informative in nature. We will on occasion watch a family-oriented movie on DVD or VHS. And when the season comes, I watch some football.

But that's about it.
