Default The Christian will NEVER Fall away!!

I can't get anyone to answer this question:
Please answer this, Who is the "among you" at the beginning of this quote? Please answer.
2 Peter 2:1
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
I'm just trying to understand the truth, will you?

Goose, I got the email you sent asking me this same question. I shall answer you, but I shall not play into your scheme.

Who is the "among you"?
Simply go back to Chapter one of 2 Peter.

2 Peter 1:1
Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:

Ok then, the "among you" people are Christians.
Now, come back to 2 Peter 2:1....
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.

There were false prophets and false teachers among the Christians.
FALSE, Goose. That means fake. These are NOT people who once believed and then lost their salvation. They were not real Christians and never were.

You will also notice that the verse says..."even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them."

That DOES NOT mean they were Christians Goose. The sovereign Lord offered his life for all men. In that sense he bought all men.
John 3:16 says..
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Even though Jesus died for all, all are not Christians.

You know Goose, John 3:16 ought to show you that you can't lose your salvation....."whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Study harder Goose...the fog will clear.

John 3:16 says" whosoever believeth in him should not perish" KJV Should not doesn't not mean, will not, nor does it mean, cannot perish. The key word in the verse being "believeth". Believe=once, believeth=continuing to believe. Holding steadfast until the end.

Clint, ever read James? I believe it's in chapter 5, and goes somthing like "if you believe, you are doing well. The devils believe also, and tremble." According to your analogy, the devils will be saved--could this be true? James is using sarcasm to make a point--belief alone won't cut it, just like confessing alone, repenting alone, being baptized alone, won't cut it.

James 3 talks about faith without works being dead. However, we also know from Eph. 2:8-9 that works will not save a man--it is grace through faith.

I believe that good works are the result of salvation, not the requirement. If good works are not present, then salvation may not be there either.

Agreed, what if a man had accepted Christ and for years through his faith in Christ did the good works that his faith in Christ led him to do, then he back slid into the ways of the world and as a result of him losing his faith in Christ he not only lost his faith in Christ, but also ceased his good works. Is his salvation still assured even though he did not endure until the end?

nope he is not gonna be happy with his final place.

Clint., you got ticked of one time when the flood was used as an example about water saving Noah and water baptism being part of what saves us. You do know that the bible talks about that right? Read 1 Peter 3:20-22 wow my bible breaks bad on ya. Also how do you guys over look "There is also an antitype which now saves us-BAPTISM"

If you want to go by one verse in the bible for or against baptism for the remission of sins then you take the thief on the cross where Jesus was WITH HIM IN PERSON this being the only time that it happened and I'll take this one because, well I'll be if it don't just come out and say it!
