Default Wow...

Wow! I left last year around Christmas time and just thought I'd stop by for a look. With the exception of the Reb's faithful posting of verses, it looks like only 1 post in over a month. Where'd everybody go? Or more importantly, why'd everybody go?

It's really simple. If anyone was really interested in finding out the answer to a question rather than trying to get attention on the board and/or start a ruckus. It's not at all hard to ask privately.

I thought I was clear. Here it is again.

Quote:
The "reminder" is this: This board is not here to be anyone's personal pulpit. The main purpose of this board is stated at the top of the page--"Discuss how your religious views affect your hunting lifestyle.".

I know that rule has been enforced very leniently, if at all, since this board's inception. I don't want to have to enforce it strictly, but I will if forced.

I ask that the copy and pasting of sermons end. It's a discussion board.
If that isn't clear enough, feel free to ask any questions via e-mail or p.m.

Some folks decided to leave if they couldn't make their own rules. I didn't run them off, it was their choice. As I said before, the rules of this board have never been enforced strictly, and still aren't.

I miss the old days, this forum is the reason I joined HNI to start with, but over the last year or so there are some that did what they wanted to do and made their own rules along the way. They used this site as a soap box and if you didn’t agree with them they said you were either stupid or lost. I just got tired of reading the same old stuff from the same people and actually there are only a few that ran everyone off.

It will come back one day again, hopefully soon, just pray for it!

I apologize for letting things get out of hand like that, and especially for my involvement in some of the threads. Hopefully it will get back to the way it used to be, where folks have discussions and show respect to one another even when they don't agree.

The reason I left was because it just got so religious. If you didn't agree with someone, like the rev said, you were either stupid or lost. It was as if no one could have a civil discussion or debate an issue without someone resorting to name calling or accusations. It got to the point where it seemed if anyone even posed a question, you wondered what the real agenda was. If we as the body of Christ cannot agree on at least a few things, how will we ever win anyone to the cause of Christ. Heaven help us all. Problem is, I miss some of those who used to contribute here and have left for the above stated reasons.

Blessings......Pastorjim

I've sort of ventured out of posting retirement and have been checking out what's happening hereabouts.

But I have to say, I'm really not sure how I could discuss how my religious views affect my hunting lifestyle.

I wonder if someone could come up with an illustration.

A few come to mind pretty quick. One that I remember from my youth is a lot of folks, especially older folks, were strongly against hunting or fishing on Sunday, for religious reasons. The reasons you agree or disagree could be a topic.

Another I've heard is "I feel closer to God in a tree stand/on the lake than I do in a church building".

A third could be "Do you feel it's acceptable to skip your regular religious service if you are out of town on a hunting trip" or "what do you do in place of your regular service if you are out of town on a hunting trip?".

I think the subject matter could run out pretty quick though, and that's why that particular rule has NEVER been strictly enforced since this forum's inception. I didn't make that rule, and I do have a bit of lee-way on how strictly to enforce it.

I never posted much on this forum, but read it often. It has slowed down, but it was pretty messy too for a while. Hopefully it comes back again as a positive.

This is what it takes to bring it back; talking like adults. I'm liking the feedback from everyone, actually this post is like to good old days, thanks Sylvan! Good post.
