A. How do you walk in the Spirit?

Very good question, should produce some good thoughts.
First let me ask another question to concider along with this one. Is there a difference between walking "In The Spirit" and walking "with" or under the guidance of The Spirit. I ask this because of Jesus saying to his disciples, I am with you but I shall be in you. Thats off the top of my head, you better check me on the exact wording.

Once you have The Spirit, you can't help but walk in It. If you stop walking in It, maybe you never had It to begin with.

Newton..according to the scriptures this is not true..We are told to "Put on Christ " "To be filled with the Spirit"..if we were always filled we wouldn't be told to be filled...Paul says "We must die daily." Jesus said' "We must take up our cross daily." James and Peter says we are at war..it's not simple..we have a real enemy that wars against us..

Some ways I beleive the Word tells us to be filled / renewed..

A. read the Word..John 8:31 to be free indeed

B. Fast...Romans 12:1.2 Daily sacrifice that we might know the will of God.

C. Be still..don't talk so much ..PS 46 Be still and KNOW that I am God.

D. Singing unto the Lord.Ephesians 5:18.But be filled with the Spirit speakin got yorselves in Psalms, Hymns and SPiritual songs..

E.Praying...Ehesians 6 ..and Jesus ' example..prayed all the time

F. Loving others..the good bad and the ugly

G. Walking in faith,.,/Obeying God's Word.

and now to answer Snooky..or better yet try to answer..not sure if this is what he is after or not...I beleive as a Christian we are sealed...with the Spirit..then why don't we act like it at times..We are in a spiritual war..that war is in our minds..The Christian never has to be defeated but in actuality many times we are..Why is this? Because we are to GROW up in the Lord..and if we feed our flesh enough ..the Spirit / WOrd will be choked out..thus the Word of the Lord.."Many are called but few are chosen." also remember the words of Paul.."Example yourselves to see if ye are in the faith." there is a place where ones faith can be shipwrecked..see 2 Tim. 2

I trust none of us are here...I trust that when we fall we feel sick..we are quick to ask forgiveness and quick to see where we fell and why we fell and try to not be tangled in that snare anymore.."We are not ignorant of the devil's devices." From my expereince as a Christian..the Lord is long suffering..not willing that any should perish but that ALL would come to repentance."

Snooky..I can only speak from my experience...and in my expereince..the Holy Spirit is always there ..even in my most horrible sin..I feel horrilbe when I sin and defeated and depressed...when I'm walking in the Spirit I'm full of peace and confidence..IMHO the Lord wills good for us..the spiritual exercises I mentioned above are simply to open our eyes to what the Good Lord wants for us anyway..Sin keeps us from recieving God's best..

Chuck; I just asked to see if some here share the theory of some who say that one can walk in The Spirit without receiving the Spirit within. Saying that some have the Spirit with them, but not in them. I maintain that Christ must be IN you before you can fulfill the commandment to walk in the Spirit.

NO doubt about that..as Paul said." I have no confidence in the flesh."

Rom 8:6 NIV - The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;
Rom 8:7 NIV - the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
Rom 8:8 NIV - Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
Rom 8:9 NIV - You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

If you have the spirit of Christ inside you the fleshly nature has been crucified and you no longer gratify the sinful nature. If you are in sin and controlled by it you do not have or have not known Christ.

1Jo 5:18 KJV - We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1Jo 5:19 KJV - [And] we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
1Jo 5:20 KJV - And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, [even] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

1Jo 3:5 KJV - And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jo 3:6 KJV - Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
1Jo 3:7 KJV - Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jo 3:8 KJV - He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jo 3:9 KJV - Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.(This was Jesus purpose! He died so that you could have him inside you keeping you pure and holy as he was. You cant do it that is why you put him inside you. He is the seed of God! God's son! If he is in you there will be no more sin! You have to be born agian of the water and the spirit. What does that mean. You have to change your outer fleshly man and your inner spirit man.)

Chapter 1 of that same book Ray says.."If anyone says he is without sin he is a liar."

Paul says he buffets himself daily lest he be a castaway..Sin is of the devil..and we wrestlle with it daily..Through the Spirt we mortify the deeds of the flesh..BUT if we sin..we have an advocate..teh Lord Jesus Christ..but temptations are very real..and I can tell you I still stumble ...and he disciplines me for it..because I'm his son and he loves me.Hebrews 12..

The english meaning of imputed is defined as; counted unto or charged to as put on ones account.

Ro 5:13 but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
James 4:17 to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Remember, we are in a new kingdom, under a new covenant. Children of Abraham. Righteousness was imputed unto Abraham as it is unto us, else it would be of works. Sin is also imputed according unto knowledge. Sin and righteousness in the eyes of God is much more than "tables of stone" which we have never gotten away from. We judge by the letter, and not according unto the Spirit.

I think this follows the trend of the last few post, but, if it is going to hi-jack the thread, I will start a new one if there is interest in the thought.

1Jo 2:3 NIV - We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.
1Jo 2:4 NIV - The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1Jo 2:5 NIV - But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him:
1Jo 2:6 NIV - Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
