John 4:24 The Father seeketh such to worship him in Spirit and in truth.
Many speak about finding Jesus. Finding him speaks of man's efforts to be righteous through their own deeds, or works, ect. Becoming qualified, or worthy of exceptation because of things done by the individual. However God declares that all one righteousness that he tries to earn is as filthy rags before God. Righteousness isn't earned, it is imparted unto the unrighteous. It is a "gift" of God.
Be assured of this fact, the righteous shall abound in good works. Does this create a contradiction? No way! What then is the difference between works and worship? Isn't it the reasoning behind the actions performed that makes the difference between works and worship?
Concider Abraham when he met Melchisedec in Gen 14:18 Abraham wasn't under law, he was under faith, just as the seed of Abraham today. His seed will do the works of Abraham. Abraham gave a 10th part without any law demanding the tithe. He did what he did because of a desire within his heart to show his love, trust, appreation, ect. for the great, undeserved blessing God had bestowed upon him, his life, family, ect. He wasn't trying to be worthy in any way! His sole purpose was to bless and worship his God. Abraham found a way to express his love for his God and worshipped through that avenue. Today many declare that they tithe, yet instead of finding a way to
worship as Abraham did, they sharpen the pencil as sharp as possible, taking every deduction that can be reasoned by the mind to reduce the amount given! The love of money is greater than the love of God in their heart. Freely ye received, freely give. The fact that they have given is used to justify the individual, but he gave grudgingly, and not in worship. He wouldn't have given at all except it was an effort to be found righteousness before God by his own works.
One gives as Abraham, willingly, because of Gods provision and blessing, he worships God. It is a "Love relationship".
The other also "tithes" but he would rather keep it all unto himself, but he knows he is a sinner and must become righteous through some means, so he tithes, but he tithes because he feels that he must in order to be saved. There is no worship, no expression of love and devotion. The same act, but two different reasons for tithing.
I have only uses tithing as a single example, but every aspect of our lives follow this example. The reason the deed is performed makes the difference in whether is is excepted or rejected.
God isn't seeking keepers of some man-made plan or program. God is seeking those who do what they do as a means of worshipping their God. They do it only because they want to show their love for God. They don't look for a reward or return for their efforts. They are simply expressing true worship to their God.
The main point here is that God is seeking true worshippers. The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, beholding all things, and he isn't looking at the amount given, or the size of the deed or action performed. God is looking on the reason it is done. He seeketh such to worship him.

True, only as long as the motivating factors are correct. If done as a show to men, works do not reflect worship! True worship has no desire to be "seen" of men. Works of the flesh will demand attention of men. Worship is just between an individual and his God.
His giving is between him and God alone. His praise is between him and his God. His fasting, praying, devotions, ect. is all done because of his desire toward God, and God alone.
He isn't ashamed of his relationship with his God and therefore doesn't hide behind the mill so as not to be seen of the Medianites, but neither does he blast on the trumpet to announce his "self righteousness" for others to behold.
