How does your Faith affect your hunting lifestyle?
My faith is in God, and in Jesus Christ his only Son Our Lord.
From this faith comes all that God has made me and all that my life is and ever will be, from now through eternity.
God directs my faith. My beliefs come from Him and all that I learn as I grow in the Holy Spirit and read and interpret the meanings found in the Holy Bible.
I notice from the top of this page,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
"Religion Discuss how your religious views affect your hunting lifestyle. All religions are welcome to post." (HuntingNet)
I always say a prayer of thanks over an animal that I harvest, and I take hunting to be a wondrous gift and opportunity from God that I am truly thankful for. And, I often pray while hunting, no matter what the situation in the field.
Anyone else have connections with their religion and hunting?

On most hunts I try to stay all day..read an entire gospel...I go and set up where I sense the Lord is leading...The Word builds my faith , keeps me still in the tree..and in the tree..{ -;
I soak in his wondrous creation all day...the birds, the sun as it warms me up when it's rises above the tree tops, the wonderful drink of water and the awestuck feeling you get when a deer comes out of the thicket. I hunt in a very highly pressured WMA..seeing a deer is wonderful...shooting one is one of the best feelings on earth ..at least for me.
By being a Christian..I only take shots I know I should be able to make...I know God knows where every deer is ..so He honestly guides my steps when scouting..I don't shoot my rifle for the heck of it..most times I take 3 rounds with me..and bring home 3 rounds. I don't litter..I stick all paper in my pocket..I thank God for my deer before I see one...during my aim...during the knock down and during the dragging out..and at the dinner table.

I thank God for the priviledge to hunt.
Nice thread Texas Gulf..and welcome to HNI.
Well said Chuck, very thorough response. I do likewise. Being ethical as you describe is very important to my faith as a hunter. I think that God would want us to hunt that way. I think it is also important to pass that along to young hunters whenever the chance arises, even non-hunters need to see and hear that we do these things. When they know these things about Christian hunters, it can help present our faith and hunting tradition in a positive light and give glory to God in that way.
yes sir ..I agree...I do not and will not hunt around rowdy hunters...filthy talking hunters and hunters that shoot stuff for the sake of shooting stuff..like a vulcher sitting in a tree 100 yds away to see if they can hit it..
It's such a joy to run into another Christian hunter on public land..they look different and act different..I always listen intently to what they say..as they know the same Guide as i do..
Here lately I had struck out so much I honestly considered hanging hunting up..very discouraging...I ran into another spanish hunter { Who loved the Lord} at the gate waiting for it to open..I said,"How do you feel when you drive out here and strike out."
"Oh..senor..your time is coming...just wait..enjoy the views and quiet time ..it won't be longa your time is coming brother."
2 hunts later he was correct.. and what joy I had.He got his that very morning..
and wisdom..he had a photo album of huge deer..he knew his stuff..he got his deer 7:30 AM that morning.
That's a wonderful testimonial Chuck. Thank you for sharing, in reading it a tear began to form in my eye for joy's sake and the Holy Spirit. May you and your family be blessed. You have uplifted me today and that I shall keep my face and heart towards Him. Have a blessed weekend.
I don't hunt like I once was able to hunt, but hunting is still going to be fun or I will find other things to do. The harvest is secondary to the blending in with Gods creation. However I cannot focus upon reading and still watch my surroundings. I do a lot of thinking and meditating but no reading until I am back at camp. Animals have such keen hearing that they often hear a couple of days beard drag across that $100 camo coat as far away as 100 yards. Foreign sounds in particular are picked upon. Nothing is more foreign than the sound of paper being flipped, page by page. IMO an hour of concretated reading is more beneficial than several hours of devided attention. I agree with Rev. The middle of the day, although not totally unproductive for hunting, is prime time for undevided attention to the word, The Am, and Pm are good times to be serious about hunting. Nothing is much more productive than wise time management.
When you start feeling like taking a nap, the game is thinking the same thing. Thats a good time for reading.
Watch the town animals, farm livestock, ect. and they will tell you what the wild animals are doing at that time.
Nothing draws attention more than movement. The flicker of an ear or tail will not be seen when reading.
But the bottom line is, What does one go to the woods for? Whatever one enjoys is the way to hunt.
