Default Humbling Experience

Sitting in the tree this gun season in IL. The hunting was at rock bottom. The weather was terrible! Winds blowing at a minimum of 20 mph and it was cold wind. I found myself complaining everytime I went out and found myself bickering inside while sitting in the tree. Then I was humbled! I realized that the wind was perfect. That the cold air was perfect. That the drizzle was perfect. That the deer not moving was perfect. Who am I to bicker and say what God commanded and made is no good. The day was just how God made it and I should be praising him that i can enjoy his creation. That I am able to walk and climb a tree and have the freedom to hunt. To have the freedom to own a firearm. This really changed my outlook on how my hunting days will go from now on. Just wanted to share with everyone!

EXCELLENT ATTITUDE..I've had to learn that lesson alot this year..I thought all hunters felt bummed when they struck out but I was wrong..

Three weeks ago I met { NO DOUBT} a Christian at the gate before 5:00AM opening time. I ask him how he felt when he struck out..he said I praise God anyways..BECAUSE your time will eventually come..

Two Weeks ago I ask an old hippie..He said..I enjoy the birds and squirrels too...I make the best out of it.

Then I realized what a horrible attitude I had..like God actually owed me anything.} -;

Great post Ray.

That"s a great way to look at it Ray. It's hard to do sometimes when it IS bitter cold and blustery and you haven't seen a deer in days . . . but you're absolutely right. I would be even more enthusiastic about my chances if I lived in Illinois where there's a monster buck behind every other tree! (j/k)
