Default Patience

Just a quick study on patience,

I love talking to guys who get 5-10 deer yearly on pubic land with alot of pressure. These guys are not lucky, they are crazy about deer hunting and will go to all ends to harvest one..

I talked to such a one 2 weeks ago. I listened over 1 hour and he enjoyed me intently savoring every word he spoke..so he kept on talking..LOL Some things I picked up was how he never puts his stand up in the same tree and how he walks over 2 miles to his spot. Yes, he had just dragged out an 8 point...well not really dragged out. He had it tied it to the top of his 1980s climber and carried it out. His climber is one of the first made..33 pounds and put together by bolts..However ; the one nugget I tucked away into my long term memory was " I always sit all day., and almost always see something." I said ,"WHat if you didn't see anything?" He said,I've had a few days like that but I'm also happy to see birds and squirrels, whatever man."

This fellow had long dirty blond hair, banged up 4x4 Toyota , 2 ear rings ripped up camos and rust on his rifle..but his eyes LOL I wouldn't want to be a deer..looks a little crazy LOL but my inner man was glad to get about 40 years of experience shared with me in one hour. He had another new hunter with him..and like Dave H..gives most of his deer a way to older hunters who can't hunt any longer. He used the 4 letter F word quite a bit..but I also snuck in a seed about the Lord..I was surprized as his eyes opened up and he was eager to hear about that as well. His eyes lit up when I talked about reading the Word in the stand..the other 2 hunters were silent..

The next Sat. I did what I had only done one other time..sit all day. It takes great patience. If it wasn't for the Word..I could never had sat all day. I don't mind other hunters now because most can't sit past 10:00 AM. My patience paid off.Other hunters simply keep the deer moving at times...which works to my advantage.

Then the Lord reminded me that I need to carry over this patience in all areas of my life. I began carrying my New Testament in my shirt pocket as I did as a new Christian. At school , instead of finding someone to gab with in my free time..I tell myself ..read one chapter..and I do..or instead of buying soda and chips...wait till dinner time..you won't starve. Remember the parable of the Seed and the Sower..Jesus said the good soil bears fruit with patience. The WOrd also says that Love is patience and kindness....James says "Let patience have her perfect work." We are to be mature...wheat ...bringing glory to God. Have you ever met a patient Christian..they certainly are a joy to be around..Job was such a man..that God said to Satan.Have you noticed my servant Job?." The very nature of God .."Patient ..not willing that any should perish." Patience is one of the fruit of the SPirit.

ANd now think about those sins that easily beset us...I trust if we would have the same patience that we all share during deer hunting { sitting all day in a stand to bring forth venison ..possilby a nice trophy| we would certainly bring more glory to God and rid ourselves of much heartache.

God bless,
C7
Also..patience is not a drooling endeaver..but rather a bud ..awaiting a beautiful flower , full of fragrance to glorify God. Hebrews `12 tells us that because of the joy set before Him, Jesus endured the cross. So along with patience is expectation of something wonderful to come.

I thought I'd share this quote..

"Patience is your hope

Patience is showing love toward others

Patience is showing faith in God."
