Default How's a nice way to say no

OK ..you've waited for ..not days or months but a couple years and you finally got a deer. Then, a few folks at work is asking for your backstrap. They are not kidding they are very serious..Now honestly if it was me I'd ask for a soup bone or sausage patty..but you know darn well I aint giving my only backstrap away..Is there a kind way to say no?

This is tough for me..I'm a teacher and have already had my assistant principal and a few others asking me for backstrap. To be honest with ya..I'd rather give up 20.00 bills then depart with my venison..any of it.

Luk 6:30 NIV - Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.

Send me your address in a pm and I'll send you some IL corn fed backstrap! Im not sure how many I have in the freezer. 3 or 4 whole loin I think. I have 7 permits I havent filled between IL and Ky so I can get you more than that if you like. I would also send you a secret loin recipe! I could more than likely fill them in a week or so!

Think about it Ray..shipping is not cheap...If you really do..I'll reinburse shipping plus extra

I had a man on here in 2006 send me a whole white tail through UPS ..2 days..He did that twice. He was from Missouri,

Honestly though sir,,I'll be fine for me..I just can't stock anohter's freezer. I do hope I get another for sausage for I do enjoy blessing others with sausage ..it's easy to fix and taste great. Had nothing but compliments on my sausage.

Appreciate the kind reply

For quite a few years, I've kept a list of people who would like to have a deer, but don't hunt and they have asked me. Since MD has a VERY liberal season, I tell them that as soon as my family is taken care of by filling my own freezer (we'll use anywhere from 4-6 per year), I'll try to fill more tags as long as I've got people to take them. I gave away the 2 first deer I got a couple years ago and ended up with only a couple in my own freezer. People will understand that you're hunting to fill your freezer first because you're taking care of your family. Tell them you'll be glad to share the extra. I've given deer away each season for most of the last 20 years.

Hey Dave..I wish we were neighbors LOL
Very nice of you partner..
I tried a roast yestersay..I was a little worried because as I was processing him..I broke the urine sac and abut a quart of pee ran everywhere..However; the sirloin tip roast was very good.

Chuck, on Nov. 1st of this year, I shot a doe late one evening. I knew it was a good shot and saw her back legs start to buckle as she ran into a standing bean field. I was planning on hunting the same stand in the morning and decided to make a quick circle around the last spot I saw her to see if I could find her immediately without disturbing the area to much. I didn't see a thing, but quickly found the next morning just past where I had seen her last - must've nearly tripped over her the night before, but hadn't seen her . . . really wish I had. The critters in the area had really worked on her hindquarters during the night. I lost most of that, but what was worse was that they opened up EVERYTHING inside -- bladder, intestines, colon, etc. - and the meat was pretty contaminated inside. I did remove a lot of anything I thought might be bad, but we have already had some ground meat from this year that made it past my nose . . . and it ain't up to par. We pretty much ruined a pizza with one package. Since all the ground meat packages are in the same place and identicle, we never know when we we might get another bad one . . . or if they're all potentially bad from that deer. I don't think the bladder contents are as much of a concern as the colon, but be very careful . . .

I've learned that when you tell someone you've shot a deer people ask you for some meat. Especially if you mention jerky, so I try now not to let people know what's in my freezer. I do give a lot of it away, but normally to my children.

BTW I'm not talking about people in need most of my neighbors make a six figure income and live in nice houses, same goes with my co-workers. So I don't feel guilty not offering to give away venison that cost me a whole lot more than if I went and had a calf killed.
