Default Is it a sin to be frustrated or bored?

I've been pondering this for the last week or 2..and I think the answer is yes,,

COncerning frustration...at times it may be ok..but too many times we get frustrated for not having our own way..or 'OUR ' plans didn't pan out...

Boredom..diffently not good..this caused the children of Israel many problems..along with King David...

OK back to the post...

My job actually demands that I be a behavior expert. I have 6 students in my class with a full time helper. Therefore, you can image the seriousness of the behaviors..I do my best to defuse all situations before they happen and through Christ I've been pretty successful. I always evaluate my own behavior as well. I'm on a strict diet but it never fails..After I drive 90 miles to hunt..and then strike out I always stop at the only convenience store on the way home and pig out..WHY? because I'm frustrated. I feel I need to reward myself ..but this my friend is sin because I know the food is bad for me. The Lord spoke to my heart and said "" Rather give thanks.. for godliness with contentment is great gain." Why do I 'Have to Score' why not rather put it in God's hands...and worship Him regardless of success in the field or not..
The false teaching in the Christian world concerniong the 'Prosperity Doctrine' has truly done much harm to the body of Christ..We are supposed to be dead to ourselves yet I hear so much complaining from the church ..like God owes us something ..He has richly blessed us all ..yet very few are satisfied..we want new blessings everyday..and expect our vehicles to run smoothly as well as every other aspect in our lives..and when 'Stuff Happens' many of our boats start rocking and the enemy of our souls is always 'Johnny on the SPot ' to offer us his comforts....which do even greater damage to our faith.

Concerning boredom..is this not the sin of David.,.when in idleness his eyes wondered upon Basheba...or when our fellow brothers are bored and begin to surf the net..to entertain thier eyes..or the children of Israel got bored of manna and demanded meat..or King Saul got bored waiting on Samuel..and the children of Israel got bored waiting on Moses..and made thier own God. My dear brothers and sisters..rather..we should be patient and stir up ourselves and be filled with the Holy Ghost..If we allow ourselves to be idle..Satan will certianly suggest all kinds of 'Fun' things to occupy our minds..was not this the issue with Adam and Eve..or the bored dad with the TV control in his hand..flipping around until his eyes find something interesting to behold..something that eats away at our faith,.so yes..we ought not allow ourselves to be bored..it is very dangerous...I wonder how many young men sat around influenced by drugs or alcohol and entertained thoughts of rape or robbing a store where someone is killed..I've heard it more than once that "Idleness is the devil's workshop ."

Chuck I don’t think getting frustrated is a sin, it could become a motivating tool if used right to change the current situation.
Boredom encompasses such a broad spectrum, for example I get bored many time while hunting especially when I’m waiting for the sun to come up. Most of the time I pass that time with prayer and finding ways to keep warm, I doubt that you (and I think I know you well enough) could ever be bored. Since you have so much to do and on your plate.

Ease up on yourself my brother, you’re harder on yourself than God is!

In certain situations I agree...one could get frustrated enough with sin that they wholeheartedly repent and turn to God..in this situation ..I totally agree..but for me..it's mostly with hunting..my wife has said many times..I hate it when you hunt because when you strike out you are so depressed..and she's right..I feel judged by God..I've had so many opportunities and every deer has busted me..after a while that begins to wear on ya..or I've had 3 bass over 10 pounds..all have broken off. I work very hard and I hate it when I fail..I'm just wondering if maybe my expectations are wrong..

I do get bored and fight it..I generally read 20 chapters of the Word..that keeps me in the stand till about 11;00 AM ..this keeps me still, builds my faith and every 5 chapters I give a call with a deer call. This technique has helped me call in quite a few deer...but somehow I mostly get busted..they always come in on me without me seeing them or come in from behind..To be honest..this frustrates the daylights out of me..and I often go on an eatting binge in the way home..I'm ashamed of myself..but confession is good for the soul..I 'm trying to change this attitude.

Brother..you know I've recieved very much from the Lord..I figure to whom God has given alot to he requires alot..I'm just wondering if the prosperity doctrine has hurt me more than I think..I'm a little confused here..

Chuck, I can't tell you all the times I've been busted or lost animals, but I keep doing it because I love it. I've lost big fish and spent many days on the lake only to only get a sun burn, but we do it because we love it.

Yes it can get to you, but I TRY to leave it behind. My wife does not want to hear it, and she tells me too. We call it hunting not killing and we call it fishing and not catching for a reason.

As far as getting bored in these days, I call it a time of refreshing! I'm so busy with work that when I get time to be bored means that I'm not working.. I just got home less than an hour ago, since monday I went to two locations and drove almost 700 miles. Two weeks ago, I drove from Ft. Worth to Denver 1700 miles round trip when I'm not driving I'm flying so for me to be bored is a good thing.

Chuck, I have to agree with Bob on this . . . and for pretty much the same reasons. I'll use hunting as my example since that's been consuming much of my time recently. I've been trying to kill one of the big bucks I've seen on a couple of the properties I hunt. I haven't seen any of them since the evening before the early MZL season opened. I've been getting up early - and now an hour earlier yet, only to sit in a stand somewhere and wait for one of the big guys to come by. I've taken 4 does so far - and that was very good - but the bigger bucks have yet to be seen. I had a 5 or 6 point wander by at 8 yards yesterday, but nothing big. Much of the time I'm just sitting there in the stand - BORED AND FRUSTRATED. I don't think I'm sinning when I do this. I AM thankful for the does God has provided, but frustrated that the hunting has been slow, the weather isn't cooperating (windy and too warm), the rut seems to be hung up, and I'm not even sure that any of the 4 bucks who would qualify for one of my arrows are even alive - much less visible. I read God's Word too when I'm hunting, but only one chapter since I'm constantly scanning. It can get quite boring at times . . . and that's frustrating.

I'd have to say that being frustrated or bored is like having high blood pressure. It's just a fact. All you can do is try to live your life in such a way that you don't get any of these--but should you, I wouldn't call it a sin.

Appreciate the replies fellows..and please forgive me but I must still disagree..I hope you guys still like me { -;

I may even rephrase my saying..do you all agree that boredom and frustration is an antecedant before sinning.

and if this is so.. why ? Where are our thoughts during this time..frustration is not one of the fruits of the Spirit...so is frustration of the flesh or of The Spirit ?

Like I said before..I just didn't write this thread off the top of my head..I evaluate my life often as I desire a very close walk with God..The Lord simply brought to my mind as with every behavior one must look at what preceded the behavior..{ The antecedent}

You all may be right about frustration and boredom in itself not being a sin..but looking at our individual lives and our Old Testament examples it sure plays a big part..

Let's look at the dad with the TV remote..
A. Tired and on the couch..
B. The wife is out shopping and he's by himself..bored
C. Begins flipping through the channels..of course he's a Christian and wouldn't look at garbage..BUT is still interested on what's on.
D. Flip Flip Flip...
E. Oh my what's that ..and on cable TV..in slides the seducing Spirit..that little dark feeling..surely no one will find out.
F. I wonder if Jesus was serious when he said IF any man looketh upon a women with lust with his eyes that he has commited adultury ..and talks in the sam ebreath about burning in HELL..

Yeah...this is very serious..note that step A wasn't the sin..it was step B. while in the state of boredom..where did the thought come from..It came from Satan...Peter tells us to live soberly ..not in slumber..so for me..I still say these 2 { States of mind} are sin..We are to take every thought captive..

Keep it going ..still love ya Bob, Slyvan , Dave and all..just trying to beat our enemy "For we are not ignorant of his devices."

One more thought..since ALL things come from God..or work for our good..When we are frustrated ..who are we frustrated at?
My classroom is a classroom from H E L L ..I'm not kidding..these kids have severe problems..God promiced me while praying that I would have a great year..First day..John Doe screams..I HATE YOU !!! for 1 hour ...kicking the desk around the room..while FREDDY laughs and laughs to aggrivate him more..Me..I'm on a fast..so I'm kind of numb..and brainstorming."What in the world am I going to do?" At the end of the day I said Lord ...I thought I was going to have a good year? the answer came back ..from a 1-10 how much peace did you have ..I had to honestly say a 10...and that I wasn't frustrated..I simply called the parents..made some good alliances and they are presently learning and the classroom is running much smoother..so fasting/faith makes ones mind idle smoothly..The Word says "Thou will keep thee in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee."

So using logic..can we say that God is not in our hearts when we are bored or frustrated..and if not..who is?

If any of you take this lightly...the next time you sin...tell me if frustration or boredom had a part in it { -;

I was reminded today how Jesus was frustrated in the garden..sweating drops of blood..just hours before his torture on the CROSS. He ask if there were any other way...it's a shame but there was no other way..and next we see the blessed attitude in dealing with frustration.

"Never the less, not my will; but thy will be done."
