That's what happend to me in Oklahoma last week, I believed I killed the buck I shot at, I just couldn't see it..

I finally did three days later, I didn't even fight the buzzards off, I figured they had to eat too. it was a small 8 point.

Congrats on getting a shot off. I went to a new area...scouted my butt off...

I got to my stand about 1 hour before daylight..I bought a new bow this year because my older bow was to long.44 inches axel to axel..I bought a real nice new Hoyt Alpha Max 32..so I wouldn't have to stand and shoot. After about 1 hour of daylight I heard what sounded like a small bird in moving through leaves.Past experience has taught me this is a deer. I turned slowly and 10 yds away broadside is a small doe but legal. I've still have never pulled the string back on a deer. With her head down I decide to stand { WHY..WHY WAS I SO STUPID} all I needed to do was pull the string back and turn around sitting down and the doe is mine. but I stood..

and when I looked she was trotting off..she didn't see me..but was now out of range..the season is over..

YET..I must give God thanks..for I always seem somehow to have hog or venison in the freezer. fact..there is a complete backstrap in the crock pot slow cooking for tomorrow...a big backstrap at that..

We still have till the end of Dec to hunt. I might go back to Oklahoma this week end (three hours away) my friend has a working cattle ranch with lots of deer, and I have a trip scheduled at Burine's (from the political forum) Thanksgiving weekend. He as 640 acres about thirty minutes from his lake house, we hunt together several time a year. He has lots of deer too and plenty of hogs too.

I've taken 4 does and am waiting for one of the bruisers I saw earlier in the season to give me a shot. I hunt ALL of the deer seasons using a bow - exclusively. It has cost me a few REALLY nice bucks, but I like bowhunting so much better - except when I'm after turkeys!

I'm with you Dave, I'd rather take a small buck with a bow than a bruiser with a gun.

The only pics I have include me in the picture as well. I value my internet anonymity so I never divulge specific information about who I am or where I live. Too many nut cases out there. All I can say is that I green scored him at 110 and his dressed weight was 155 pounds. Certainly not one for the books but for me, a pretty nice buck.
