Default this forum has "slid"

I used to come to this forum a couple times a week as there was often some interesting discussions going on.

I come here less and less and see less and less that is interesting here.

The "big topic" of late has got to be the most "non-enlightening" banter I've seen in some time.

Seems to me some on here are not so concerned about "the Word of GOD" as they are about squabbling over their view of some words.

Hope everyone can get out and do some hunting this fall and enjoy the wonderful world GOD made for us.

Without annualizing creation to the point that you can not enjoy it.

Slid? Actually I think it died a while ago. What posting there is tends toward bickering rather than a substinative exchange. I almost wish the mods would kill this forum. It's gotten like I am with the t.v.--I just keep flipping chanels hoping something worthwhile will turn up but it never does. Oh well maybe some new posters will show up and breath some new life into it. Ya never know.

For years, I've used the religion board page as my start-up page for the browser I normally use. I have to agree that there has been precious little to keep my attention and I may soon just change my start page which will likely cause me to be one of those who disappear from this forum. Most of my favorites left some time ago - only a few left . . .

Much of this website has "slid" but the downturn of
this forum may be easiest to have predicted.
I've not felt led to participate mainly because of the
nit picking and arguing doctrine for the sake of posturing.

C.S. Lewis warned against debating doctrine in the presence
of immature believers or those that have not commited.
The danger of pushing anyone away or giving the impression
of a divided church will NEVER be worth whatever is being argued.
It's been my experience that most threads on this forum that make
it past page 1 are petty tit-for-tat exercises in one up manship
and I'd be willing to bet it has caused many more persons to question
Christianity (this being predominate) than it has to enlighten or strengthen.

The obvious exception being motors epic "Let's talk about Jesus" thread.

I truly wish I could disagree but I'm afraid your asessment pretty acurate.

I have to marvel at the accusation that doctrine is the culprete here. It certainly wasn't true in the beginning of the New Testament church. Paul would likely have had something to say to mr. Lewis about his statement. It has been my experience that the "new converts" are not the ones who have a contention with sound doctrine, it is rather the old gray heads that have been in "The Way" for years, but never came to know the Jesus of the Bible. It is those who have fought against the righteousness of God, and the teaching of Gods Doctrine that have problems with the Truth and the Light. Honest hearts, simply say, "show me". The dishonest heart who loves the praises of men more than the righteousness of God will rent their cloths, throw dust into the air, and scream away with him! crucify Him! He is an anti-christ! It's blasphemy! That is a cult! God expects us to continue to live in sin and ungodliness!! Don't dare suggest that we come out and be seperate!.

I don't believe it's squabbling or nit picking at all thats bringing this forum down. My opinion is that some folk like to claim that this is like a substitute church or The Church. . .It's not, it's a religion forum, all is thrown together . . .truth, lies, good, evil, and just plain stupid.
What a wonderful place this used to be to contend for what we hold as truth. What a great opportunity to challenge ourselves and others to seek out that truth.
You know the body has many members, some are meant to do one thing and another is meant to do something else. This place as it has always been may not be for everyone but it has a purpose . . . .but it sure ain't no church.

It's for sure that doctrine itself is not the culprit and I
don't see where that was implied. Arguing the minute
details in running debates out in the public is what might
cause readers to draw back and not just from this forum.

No, this is not a church. But neither is it a private think tank.
Challenging each other to further study is one thing but many
of the threads/discussions quickly become more exclusionary as
the lines are drawn. I've only been reading here 4 or 5 years so
things may have been different before but I would still be hard
pressed to believe more folks have been helped than have been
overwhelmed or put off.

Good & knowledgable people here, no doubt in my mind. And again,
my contribution being what it is (nothing) I probably shouldn't even
have chimed in. Just always kind of thought this way.

Good luck and
God bless.
