Default Process Of Salvation

For Old Testament Folk it seems that the nature of salvation involved a person or a nation being in great distress . . .whether from enemies or some sort of disaster. . . .And that person or nation would be helpless in themselves.
Salvation also involved a deliverer (savior) . . . .Who would deliver them from their distress.
Now what this deliverer would do is to remove these folk from their circumstance, . . .so their salvation showed movement from distress to saftey.
Basically, I see the same thing going on in the New Testament when Jesus delivers believers from not only dangers that threaten their physical life , but their eternal life as well.
When were the children of Israel saved? At the night of the passover, after the blood was applied, and the death angel passed over, they were saved. Yet they were not yet saved. They were saved when they crossed the Red Sea, and the armies of Pharaoh were destroyed. Yet they were not yet saved. They were saved when they were led by the cloud in the wilderness. Yet they were still not saved. Many, ultimately never entered into the promised land.
From the perspective of Scripture to my understanding, salvation is a process . . . .a lifelong process. We have been saved "According to His mercy Hes saved us" (Titus 3:5), and "(God) has saved us and called us to a holy life" (2Timothy 1:9). We are being saved " For by grace are ye saved" (Ephesians 2:8), and "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Phi 2:12). We shall be saved, "much more being reconciled we shall be saved by His life" (Romans 5:10), and "Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee" (1 Timothy 4:16). God only gives this final salvation if we continue in Him (Romans 11:22, Col 1:23, 1John 2:24-25)
Jesus the Christ however, will see us thru:
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Php 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
1Pe 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Well it is very evident your perspective is telling Jesus Christ he did not complete the work at the cross.

Living and growing in Christ is a process.

Did Christ not say "it is finished"?

I Corinthians 15:1-4

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel(absolutely. Today there is only one Gospel of Grace.) which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; As soon as we believe the Gospel the Book begins to open up to understanding. And it begins to make sense)By which also ye are saved, (it's by this Gospel and this Gospel only that we're saved. This is the Gospel that saves lost people.) if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain."

"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, (this is the revelation that Paul received from the ascended Lord, and not from Christ's earthly ministry. Christ had the finished work of the Cross now behind Him. So this is what was revealed by the ascended Lord for us to believe for salvation)how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;(This was in that whole preordained plan of the ages that Christ would go to the Cross) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures;"
Now folks that's the Gospel that you must believe in your heart for salvation. And isn't it so simple. Oh there is no string attached, there is no prescribed ritual, there is no particular way that you have to do this. You can believe it at the kitchen sink, you can believe it driving down the road, you can believe it when you wake up in the middle of the night. You can say, "Yes I see it. For me there is only one remedy, and that is that Christ died for my sins, and He arose from the dead!" Then God does all the rest. God saves us. God sets our feet on a Rock, and He begins to open up the Scriptures, and then we begin to comprehend the truth of The Bible from cover to cover. Now this isn't going to happen all at once, but salvation happens all at once.
Salvation is not a process, but rather salvation is an event. Salvation is an instantaneous event. Christian growth is a process. Bible understanding is a process, but salvation is a one time event. And what an event to be translated from darkness to light! To know your sins have been forgiven, and to know that you're justified! And all this happens instantaneously.

Well it is very evident your perspective is telling Jesus Christ he did not complete the work at the cross.

Sarge; What is evident is not having a clue what Jesus fulfilled and completed on the cross. Jesus didn't pave the way for a life of sinful living. He rather came to comdemn sin IN THE FLESH. Jesus fulfilled and completed the way to victory over ALL THE WORKS OF THE EMEMY. Jesus delievered to sinful man, the Grace of God to allow man to become more than a conquer in CHRIST JESUS. Jesus gave man the strength to live righteously, Godly, and holy in this present world of sin, shame, and disgrace. Jesus made the way for the righteousness of the law to be fulfilled IN US. Jesus redeemed US FROM OUR SINS. Jesus Gave us life and that more abundantly. Jesus made it possible for man to be PARTAKERS of HIS DEVINE NATURE. Jesus cleanses man with his own blood, that man would no longer be enslaved by sins of satan. Jesus made it possible for man to be fellow heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ. Even if one was only a follower of Paul, and not a follower of Jesus, he would know the truth of these scripural teaching as Paul knew nothing save Jesus Christ and him crucified. To teach that Christians are daily sinners is to totally deny Jesus Christ and his sacrifice on the cross. It declares Jesus to be a failure, liar, deciever, ect.
I am on record in saying that Jesus did fulfill everything that he said, that the Law said, that the Prophets said, that the Psalms said, AND ALL THAT PAUL said that he fulfilled. When Jesus said, it is finished, he meant what he said, satan was defeated, man had been redeemed by the blood of Gods Lamb. Salvation had been brought down. Whosoever will let him come and drink of the WATER OF LIFE freely. Out of his belly shall flow RIVERS of living water. Not a trickle, stream, or even a might river, BUT RIVERS of living water.
It is like trying to dam up a rushing river with a shovel. Satan throws a shovel full of sin in our way, but the rushing, living waters, decent upon it and sweep the sin away before he can let a second shovelful thrown in. Sin may abound, but GRACE DOETH MUCH MORE ABOUND. Gods Grace is sufficent for every need.
Sinners sin a little, (LOT) every day, the born again cannot sin for his seed remaineth in him and he cannot sin.
The scipture is true in every situation, 100% infallible. The scripture, the living word, Jesus, God manifest in the flesh, if it, abides within, sin cannot abide at the sime time. Man cannot serve two masters. He will love one and hate the other. Man must choose which he will serve. He, by his own choosing will serve sin, or he will serve God. He will accept the Grace of God and its teachings on living in this world, or he will deny the power of God and remain a servant of sin. He then will adhear to the doctrine that offers him confort while living in daily sinful lust and ungodly desires.

Concider this: One teaches that man cannot live a holy life and is expected to sin a little every day.
Another teaches that one must live a life in Jesus Christ that doesn't require sin on a repeted, daily continuance.
The first man lives his sinful life. The second man fails to live free from sin.
Both have now comitted sin in their lives. Is one anymore lost than the other?? Because one tried to resist sin and ungodlyiness in his life, is his fate any worse than the first?
If both are in the same condition, (guilty of sinful living) where was the harm in trying to live a better life?
One says, I sin everyday because there is grace to forgive my sins.
The other says, I don't have to sin every day because of the liberty that Gods Grace gives unto me.

Now, did Jesus come to save his people IN their sins?
OR did he come to save his people FROM their sins?
When Jesus declared, "it is finished", what did he mean?
What was meant by the term, " a new and living way"?

"Step right up folks and get your eternal salvation right here at L.Feldicks Fly By, one stop, short cut to eternity. Simply say the magic words "I believe" and go about your merry way. Disregard all Biblical instruction and live it up as Les has it all figured out.
No need to be baptized, and you can condence your Bibles to just a few short passages from Pauls writings that have been verified acceptable by Mr Feldick hinself.
Afterward we can drink to our hearts content, fornicate, steal, lie cheat, murder, and blaspheme without any fear of losing our right standing.

Actually, I can afford to be facetious as Snookys post is right on.

Is there actually someone here who thinks the behavior you describe is acceptable for a Christian? I don't know any Christian who condones doing those things.

Rich; The fool sayeth in his heart, there is no God. Not with his mouth.
Actions speak louder than words. Every tree is known by its fruit, not by its speach, or words.
A good example is a very powerful sermon.

Well said and his statement speaks for itself. It tells everyone exactly where he stands.

Look at the verse you mentioned.

Psalms 14:1

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God..."
Now most Bibles will have the "There is" italicized, which means that it’s been added to hopefully clarify it, but in this case they didn’t do this verse any good at all by adding those two words. I like the way it read just by leaving it the way it was intended.

Psalms 14:1
"The fool hath said in his heart, no, God...."
Not that there is no God, because I don’t think there’s a person alive that can honestly say that. Now there are some who try to claim they’re atheists, but way down deep inside of them, when the death angel comes knocking on their door, they’re suddenly going to realize too late, that there is a God, and that there is an eternity. So I don’t like to look at this verse in that light, but rather if you’ll put a comma after the word no, the fool says no to God. Do you see that? The fool says, No, God, I’m not going to do what you tell me, I’m not going to believe what you say. Now that’s a fool! Now as soon as you get the concept that the fool is the person who says no to God, he’s the man who is then destitute of faith.

I don't know any genuine Christian who thinks we can go on sinning after salvation. HOWEVER, I also don't know any genuine SINLESS Christians. 1 John 1:8-9 plainly shows us that Christians still are capable of sinning and DO sin. Anyone who claims otherwise is calling God a liar -- not my words, they're HIS words.

Romans 6 plainly tells us that we don't have a license to sin. Galations tells us we are a new creation in Christ and good works should follow. However, Romans 7 shows us how Paul struggled with his sinful nature. He didn't quite measure up to Christ's sinless perfection and I doubt that anyone here measures up to Paul.

I think I prefer to allow a little room for God's grace. If you aren't living the way Christ wants you to live, examine your salvation and make sure you're really saved and then get about repenting. However, to expect absolute sinlessness following salvation - as some seem to be inferring - isn't Biblical.
