I get so mad at people, namely atheists, that raise so much of an uproar and stink about the Christmas Holiday. If they dont want to participate in this almost "Global known" holiday, they dont have to, just keep your freaking mouth shut and let us Christians have a day! I dont believe and participate in halloween but I dont get my drawers in a knot when stores and people decorate for it. If you dont believe in Christmas, then go to work and send your kids to school and let us that do have the day off.
Yes, the political correctness gets a bit tiresome at times. But there was a time when Christians were fed to wild animals, crucified, etc. So we should be able to tolerate a Happy Holiday theme in the secular world. It's certainly a milder test of faith than the earlier Christians had to endure.
We don't have to like it, but getting angry about it might be an overreaction.
Merry Christmas Everyone

Oh I know it... I Posted something similar in the political room and it's has about 20 pages.
Just post this and watch the Atheist come out of the wood work like rats!
It's not about our rights, it's about the hell bound rights. They are going straight to hell and want to take as many with them as they can.
Doesn't sound very Christian, I don't need a day to show I believe in the Messiah and much less a day canonized by a pagan King who worshipped a sun God in this date.
Show you are a Christian by your works.IMO

So, now you are the one who decides who goes to hell. I always thought that Christians believed that determination is made by someone a little further up in the heirarchy than a Rev.

Just curious. How are atheists interfering with your right to celebrate Christmas in any fashion you wish?

I'm sure dkhamner can answer for himself, but my response to that is this. There are atheists out there protesting ANYTHING that even hints at a belief in Christ -- like a Nativity scene. They even go so far as to protest Santa Clause (which isn't something worshipped or endorsed by Christains since it really isn't a Christian belief). They are wrapped up in making sure that anything that makes them or anyone else think of Christ is done away with. I used to be able to travel all over my county and see Nativity scenes - a childhood memory was seeing a really nice one in front of the courthouse. The atheists made sure that will remain only a memory. Singing Christmas carols with Christian themes (like MOST of them) is bammed from schools around here. We have a day chosen to celebrate the birth of our Saviour and the atheists want to make sure that the true reason for Christmas isn't allowed to be publicly celebrated. That's why we bristle when we see Happy Holidays used in place of Merry CHRISTmas!

Thank you, but what I'm trying to get at is how are anyones personal rights being infringed regarding how they choose to celebrate Christmas. The fact that some atheists are "protesting" Christmas is not an infringement of anyones rights. No one has the right to stop any one else from protesting anything they want. I don't like it anymore than any other Christian does but I don't have a right to not be offended. I have a right to sing Christmas carols, pray or say Merry Christmas anytime and anywhere I want within reason (can't barge in and disrupt what other people are doing and I don't get to set the rules of conduct when I'm on somebody elses property). The state, on the other hand, has no right to celebrate a Christian holiday or to choose any other religions holiday for celebration, in fact they are specifically prohibited from doing so. I think that's a good idea but also a different question. I'm asking specifically what personal rights to celebrate Christmas are being infringed by atheists. I don't see that I've lost any.

To answer you Lemaitre I'm not the one who decides! But according to the BIBLE and I use that as MY source, atheist are not going to heaven.
I didn't say that actually Jesus was the one who said that.. No need posting any biblical references since you don't believe them anyway. So if you have a beef about me saying that you need to take it up with God!! Oh, I forgot, you don't believe in Him either.
Gosh, you don't have an argument, you're in a no win situation!
