Why are Christians en masse being drawn into New Age teachings and practices? Quite simply it is because of a failure to "rightly divide the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15).
New Age Theology holds to the coming global reign of the "Christ" as the world experiences peace, unity, and prosperity. When the Christian Church fails to distinguish between God’s program for Israel and God’s program for the Church, those within the Church are ready to embrace Satan’s strategy.
Rather than understand the Biblical doctrine of the Rapture (i.e. the catching away of the Body of Christ by Jesus to Himself), modern Christianity has welcomed into its fold the teaching that we must make the world a better place in which to live, unify its people and social structure, and prepare it for the coming of the Messiah.
We don’t have to look far to see the impact of the environmental movement and the advocates of the "New World Order" in the professing Christian Church today.
The New Age teaching embraces a remarkably similar teaching in anticipation of the coming of the final avatar, Lord Matreya. He will put all enemies under his feet and rule the world in peace, love, and harmony. The ignorant majority will see him as the promised Messiah and Saviour of the world. From the Word of God, we recognize him as the Antichrist, and so we are alarmed to see well-meaning believers falling into his erroneous scheme.
Christ warned us that "Many will come in My name." These false prophets will perform wonders in His name and the Church will blindly follow them.
The solution: "Study to show yourself approved unto God." Be aware of what God’s Word says regarding the timetable of the last days, and know the strategy of the devil to deceive and destroy (2 Corinthians 2:11).
Certainly the answer to the New Age is Paul’s gospel (Galatians 1:6-8)—that message of the grace of God revealed to him by the glorified Lord Jesus.
