Based on the Roman response to the Jewish revolt in 70AD. I doubt that the Roman Empire would have allowed a Jewish kingdom that was not firmly under Roman control.

As for me..I see the scripture says.."Let every man give as he has purposed in his heart." Not under pressure..for God loveth a cheerful giver..For me the law would be pressure..

Personally my go to giving verse is in Proverbs..where it says ."The righteous giveth and giveth and does not lack." IMHO the longer one is a Christian the easier it should be to give..We have a set amount that we monthly give..We don't give to "Prove God" as written in Malachia..and we don't give under the law..I felt like we should give an X amount..my wife disagreed ..BUT after a good night sleep agreed. { -: She manages the money...so we had to come to an agreement..We give because it's the right thing to do..from conviction of the heart.

Act 4:32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.

If we want to follow the original example we must give everything to serve Christ!

Mat 19:21Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
Act 5:3Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?
Act 5:5When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened.
If we dont give everything and die to this World serving Christ the only person we fool is ourselves! God doesnt care about money! What he demands is your heart soul and mind!

Right!! When God has our heart, soul, and mind, he also has total control of our finances. How much?? indicates an area where we are concerned about Gods willingness to supply our needs.

A tithe is not requirement of money, it can be your time or efforts. Don't get stuck on a money issue. Money is the root of all injurious things.

There are some who go to church and tithe 10% of their income and there are others who are in financial binds with materials things that cannot fulfill their commitments to their faith obligations.............

Some don't tithe at church, but help others with more and 10%.....

You also have those who tithe 10% at church and help others with more than 10% ...............

Then you have those who spend more than 10% on feeding and helping others physically.........

If you spend 10% of your income (as a tithe) on others, Save 10% for the future and live on 80% of your income, you would be a wealthy person!!!!

Jesus told us to help the needy!

Wherein have we robbed thee? The heavenly answer was two fold 1. In tithes 2. AND in offerings.
One can fulfill the letter for tithing, and still be seen as a robber and a thief in Gods eyes. Likewise one may give great offerings, but never tithe one penny to God.
Tithe was for a purpose, and offerings were for another purpose.
Jesus said, "This ought ye to have done and not left the other undone". You should have tithed, You should have given offerings, AND you should have fulfilled the righteousness of the law also.
