Some churchs have boxes for the local charities, but people right in their church are going without.
And the Preachers only have time for the people in their church that have money.
And the people that are struggeling, well he is just to busy.
I see it in my own church.
So I know it goes on at other churchs also.
No wonder no one wants to go to church any more.
I remember in the 60's when a church member was sick, or lost a job.
They would come and visit, bring food,
and offer to help out with what ever the person needed.
They would cut their grass, clean the house, cook their food, etc, etc.
But now people in todays churchs don't even keep their word.
Including the Preachers, ( but he does to the people with money ).
So what is your take on this subject?

Phil.4:8Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
In other words Johnny...don't give in to negative thoughts..period.they are deadly..to YOU..Don't look around anddwell on that stuff...The Accuser of the Brethren is putting those thoughts in your heart..when that happens you need to take that thought captive and say "It is written...and then quote a Bible verse for that situation...I'm not trying to be ultra spiritual here..just speaking from the school of hard knocks..[8D]Let it go..pray for those who offend you..and seek God's guidance. Simply go to church to worship God and God alone.

x2. . . . . . . The thing about it is that when we speak of the church we are also speaking of ourselves. In most congregations you will find folk that care and folk that seemingly do not care.
Why not be that person who helps a brother in need. Do I visit and bring food to anyone in need? Surely, I could think of some elderly brother who would enjoy a visit and a helping hand with whatever needs doing around his place.
If one starts doing these things eventually it will inspire another to do the same. Being resentful about what others don't do doesn't add anything productive to the perceived problem, but only makes us part of the problem rather than an instrument that God can use to work holiness for your church.
I've been in your shoes before . . . .thinking "These folk should be doing more". After a time I began to accept that "We should be doing more". Finally I realized that I was as much of the problem as anyone else and that "I should be doing more".

Johnny...
Johnny..trust me..I know how ya feel man..and better yet Jesus knows how ya feel. There are some churches which are more mature than others.I used to go to a churchin which they would have reached out to ya in a heart beat..This was a very small church ..and a missions church. The church evendually folded as the entire staff went to the mission field or started independent chuches..
Bigger churches seem to lose sight of the little guys often ..or cator to their own class in the church or yes..the bigger contributers..It's wrong..but a fact of life..Jesus said,"When you give ..give to someone that does not have the means to pay you back." and "When you have given to the poor .you have given to me."
I wouldn't clump all churches together..as they are all not the same. There are some spirit filled , God fearing pastors out there..and then there are some churches which are ranlike a small business.."Ye shall know them by their fruit."
Question...
Johnny, why do you go to this church?
Act28:27
For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.'

Because there is only one perfect person, and that is Jesus.
If I switched churches just because of this I would never go.
All churchs do things we don't like, I just needed to vent.

Sorry if this was percieved as a sarcastic question ..it wasn't meant to be that..Lots of folks go to church because it's where their family goes..I know a man in Maryland that is unhappy with his church but 1/2 of the congregation is his relatives..I remember being at a real hard place once...and I remeber 3 neat times..well 4.. Once a man in church { didn't now him from Adam} wrote me a check for 65.00 Another time a man wanted to use my bathroom and left 200.00 taped to the window..
Another ...sent a check through the mail for 1000.00 Another time the church bought our Thanksgiving meal But more often..we lived from one day to the next..7 years without a phone and T.V. and to be honest with ya..they were some of the happiest years ever..We always found 20.00 to sign Matt up for baseball..so we played alot of cowboys and indians , baseball and my wife and I would fish for dinner..Here's Lyn with a stringer caught off the shore..We never had a boat back then.. The reason we were poor..Lyn quit her job to homeschool the boys..I was going to Bible collegebut working 2 jobs..Does my wife look happy or what..those days weren;t so bad..living in a trailor for 275. a monthLOL
can't really add anything but i thought this puts it pretty simple
Each of us will one day be judged by our standard of life, not by our standard of living; by our measure of giving, not by our measure of wealth; by our simple goodness, not by our seeming greatness. William Arthur Ward
