Default just checking in

I know it has been awhile since I have been here. Things have been kind of hectic lately. Our congregation has been building a new church so there has been a lot there.
We are also hosting conventions as well and one of my responsibilites is a lot the same as VBS except it is just one day. This is the first time anyone has done this at conventions so we were told that the bar has to be extremely high because they will probably continue this every year. But no pressure right. So I have been drilling holes into boards that the kids will be using for a project. I am almost done with that and then will sand and paint with magnetic primer and chalkboard paint. The kids will do the rest. We are now on a time crunch though since we have to condition the chalkboards before the kids decorate them so they need to be done in at least a weeks advance. I am so thankful I have Tonja to help me.
I have also had extra kids here 3 to 4 days a week a 2 and 3 year old that keep me on my toes when they are here. They are here during the evening and the mornings is when I work on my project before it gets to warm.
I still clean at my in-laws on Tues. and we also now have community garden again Tues. and Thurs.
We are keeping the kids busy in our garden as they are responsible to help pick weeds and such. We won't have a ton of stuff and it got planted later than we would have liked to but I bought hybrids to help with the short MN season so we'll still be okay.

I haven't even shot my bow in over a month with the way my schedule has been and I miss it. We stopped by the archery shop about a month ago and Matt said we have to come visit more often. I thought his mom would have given me a hard time about not bringing the kids but she went easy on me.

You have all been in my thoughts and prayers and I will be sure to check in again soon if my schedule doesn't ease up once conventions are done. So it may be July. I have a lot of baking to do before then as well. I need to make a ton of Nissu and cinnamon rolls or some kind of sweet roll.

Praying for you all, Katrina

I haven't ever hunted but I love to shoot bow it is a lot of fun for me and it allows Josh to shoot more since I shoot with him.

The community garden is a lot of fun. It is mostly kids that go. They are asked what they would like to plant in their garden plot, this year they got together to start the seeds since it stayed so cold for so long and our growing season is so short, so anyways the kids or families plant their own garden plot and then meet every Tues and Thurs to weed. The school waters it with the big sprinkler since it is right by one of the fields. The kids get to pick produce out and then the extra is donated to elders in the community and a lot of it goes to the retirement home in the next town. They also take the kids on trips to go swimming, to go to greenhouses, they usually take them to a baseball game. Most of the kids that go to the community garden are kids who are being mentored and don't have a lot of positive influence. I started going because I wanted to learn more about gardening and now am going more for the volunteering and my kids love it. I brought my neice and nephews there one time and they had a blast and we were just gardening that day no trips.

The program is based on a grant and the more kids they can get to sign up the better chance they have of keeping their grant. Without it they wouldn't be able to do the fun stuff and would just slide by on the gardening. They have two ladies that are paid and the rest is all volunteer but they have to also head the mentoring part of the program as well. They stay super busy.

Most of the stuff that we grow in our garden gets donated when we do a garden at home, but the kids would be dissapointed if we didn't go and it helps June and we keep just enough out of our garden to make her happy.

Thanks for the information Katrina..For me..gardening is right up there with hunting and fishing..I belong to this fourm as well...
It's 19.00 a year but has no pop up ads..It has nearly 500,000 members so there is a wealth of information available and many send me free seeds to start under my grow light.

The site is davesgarden

If you were closer it would work but I don't think it would fair well in the mail. I haven't even had time to bake lately and I miss it. I think I could however send some cinnamon rolls that might make it okay when I get a chance. I need to make some soon and some bread. They were looking for some for conventions and it has been a couple weeks since I have gotten any treats over to the neighbors. Keep Ethan, Andrea, and Eric in your prayers it is coming up on a year that she has passed so they need prayers. The Eden Valley parade was on Friday and all of the the Fire and Rescue and city workers wore shirts with a picture of Janelle, she was an amazing lady, and is greatly missed.

My painting is almost done I have one coat of chalkboard paint left to do and then Wed. I can condition the boards. I have a few posters that need to get made and then I should have time to get some baking done. My bow will have to wait until after conventions.

We had our Sunday School picnic yesterday and that was great fun for all. We have a bunch of kids from Finland and Sweden here and they are having a blast. They will have potluck tonight and then a bonfire after, we won't make that though as I have Caitlin and Braden tonight so it will just be a fairly quiet night at home.

Saw my neice march on Thursday. She is in the drum line for marching band and this was her second time marching in a parade. My dad and brother, a cousin and one of my aunts and uncles was in the parade as well. They are in the colorguard. Karl must've had to work because he wasn't marching.

God is great He has richly blessed me with lots of loved ones in which to share these special times with.
