He said also to the one who had invited him, "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."
The Parable of the Great Dinner
(Mt 22.1"14)
One of the dinner guests, on hearing this, said to him, "Blessed is anyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!" Then Jesus said to him, "Someone gave a great dinner and invited many. At the time for the dinner he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, "Come; for everything is ready now." But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, "I have bought a piece of land, and I must go out and see it; please accept my regrets." Another said, "I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please accept my regrets." Another said, "I have just been married, and therefore I cannot come." So the slave returned and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and said to his slave, "Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame." And the slave said, "Sir, what you ordered has been done, and there is still room." Then the master said to the slave, "Go out into the roads and lanes, and compel people to come in, so that my house may be filled. For I tell you, none of those who were invited will taste my dinner." "

So the people ofChurchianity where provided with a meal. Which is theWord of God. Which when clothed by Godsgrace which is defined as "Power", throughChrist can overcome sin and walk according to the spirit in obedience. But rather than walk in obedience they would rathertend to their own agendas in sin. So God goes into the World and finds those whoare not self rightoues, heard theWord of God and still livein sin and offers them the chance to become obedient to him and have everlating life.

Matt 22:11 Is this the same event only in a few different words? Here one comes without having on a wedding garment. Alex, or anyone more knowledgable in the customs of the day, feel free to correct me if need be.
Didn't the master of the supper provide the wedding garment for the guests? If so, wasn't he given a garment just as the others? Wouldn't that show that his excepance wasn't based soley upon receiving the wedding garment, but rather on what he did with the garment afterward? What was the wedding garment a type and shadow of? The fulness of the body is Christ. Peter declared these types and shadows contained "salvation" ready to be reveiled in the last days.
I believe you are correct. The Jewish custom was that the person hosting the wedding feast also provided the garments for everyone to wear. It indicated a covenant. In the book of Matthew, when the king came in, he was the only one who noticed that the man was not wearing a wedding garment. This is my opinion, but I don't think the man ever had the garment. It is significant that he was inside with the rest of the guests and either no one said anything or they just didn't notice. I believe that the garment represented a covenant and even though this guy was in their midst, he was not in covenant with them. The king noticed this immediately and dealt with the situation. Thus the sumation at the end of the story; "many are invited, but few are chosen."
