Default A comforting word..

IN our present world I really appreciate comforters. Some folks seem to have this attribute naturally built in them. School has been very tough lately and yet the Lord knows just the medicine..comfort. As I sit in my chair behind my desk trying to ignore 'Little Johnny' goofing off and my mind mentally jumping through hoops to keep up with all the mandates of the day. Then, little Kari ..sneaks behind me and begins massaging my shoulders...and sure enough that takes alot of stress off..after 10 seconds I then say,"OK ..have a seat..I could get in trouble." but those 10 seconds of comfort was just what the doctor ordered.

Fact, my prayer and desire is to be a comforter. The Lord impressed upon my heart the following verses and how interesting that the Holy Spirit's name is not Convictor, Preacher, Condemer but rather Comforter
. Here are some neat verses concerning the subject of a comforter.
The Comforter[/i][/b]
John16:[/b]7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. [/b]
[/b]
Comfort"to strenghthen"to soothe in distress or sorrow; to ease the misery or grief of ; to bring consolation or hope[/b]

Isaiah 49:13-16a[/b]13 Sing for joy, O heavens!
Rejoice, O earth!
Burst into song, O mountains!
For the Lord has comforted his people
and will have compassion on them in their suffering.
[/b]14 Yet Jerusalem[/b]
says, "The Lord has deserted us;
the Lord has forgotten us."
[/b]
"Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child?
Can she feel no love for the child she has borne?
But even if that were possible,I would not forget you!
[/b]16 See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.

[/b]

2 Corinthians 1:4-6[/b] All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. [/b]4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. [/b]5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.[/b]
[/b]
John 14:16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; [/b]17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

[/b]18I will not leave you comfortless[/b]
[/b]

Thanks Reb,
This morning I had a message already to deliver to the teacher Bible study and when I awoke the Lord impressed this mesage upon my heart. So many times we feel it's our duty to convict and bring down the hammer on our brothers and sisters..but trust me..sinners and baksliders beat their own selves up..they need no help from God's people.

A few days ago I remembered the Lord saying to the Pharisees that were well versed and Jesus replied."And I know you ..that you have not the love of God in your heart...for Moses spoke of me and you are trying to kill me." I thought I don't want to be like that...a person well versed but without love..and my prayer right then was God show me how to have this love of God. There are many aspects of love and this is only one small side BUT He reminded me that the fruit of the Spirit and the Holy Spirit's name is so close..and if that same Spirit resides in us we should be comforting and compassionate. HIs mercy endureth forever..
God bless Rebel,
C7

Amen..Rev..I think most of us beat ourselves up..thus the reason for the Word..

Beating oneself up is not good..because it's hard to love when we feel like a failure or unloved..
