Zechariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part of them through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call upon my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.
II Tim 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
James 5:11 Behold we count them happy which endure.
So what does this have to do with the will of God??
Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethern, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.
FINALLY!! It is about time to become men of God. Finally it is time to cease to be children. Finally it is time to show forth his praises, power, might, ect. in this present world. Time for those who do know their God to be strong in the Spirit and Power of his might.
Persecution, tribulation, and trials, are the tools used to refine the church and bring it unto the state of readiness that God has planned it to be in. God has a will, or plan for everyone.
Soldiers MUST learn to be soldiers BEFORE they are battle ready. They are put in simulated situations in order for them to learn how to handle the situation at hand. Many are sent home because they can't handle the pressure of refinment. Their make up isn't that of a soldier. Many are spiritual playboys, riding in the parades with the top down, brass shining, uniform spotless, but they don't have the intestinal fortitude to engage the enemy on the battle field.
Look at sports for a few lessons that will apply here. Tough competition builds the athlete. A boxer will never develop the skills to become the world champion by doing roadwork, by working the heavy bag, by skipping rope, doing excercises, ect. He must get into the ring and learn how to box. David had killed the lion and the bear, before he took on Goliath.
Sad but true, the churches of today are filled with old white headed, life long members that must have theirwhiskers held back so they nurse the bottle.
Every time a little trial comes, instead of fighting for the victory and becoming a warrior, they run to another church! Look for a better Pastor! Anything to escape a confrontation with the adversary of their soul.
If they found the perfect church, they would become a member and ruin it by their membership. Endure hardness as a good soldier.
A tree that is uprooted and replanted 2-3 times per year, will never bear fruit, reqardless of how many blossoms it has. Too bad a tree is known by its fruit, and not its flowers.
