Ex 12:14-20 And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread--Therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance forever.
Jesus our passover is sacrificed, his blood applied to the doorpost of our hearts, we have eaten his flesh, roast with fire, ect. We have our feet shod, staff in hand, girdth about with a garment of righteousness ect. Now what about the unleavened dough, carried from Egypt upon the shoulders?
Seven days = completion. The type and shadow is that we remove all leaven, (sin) from our houses, (ye are the temple of The Holy Ghost) until what point in time??
I write these thing unto you that you sin not. Is it a commandment, suggestion, optional lifestyle, or ???
With the Easter/Passover season being so widely publicized, very few know that the feast of the unleavened bread followed the very next day. Was the passover made of no effect if one failed to follow up with the feast of unleavened bread? Weren't these types and shadows as Peter declared, of salvation ready to be revealed in the last days? Can we select certain certain of the types, and ignore the others? Or is it as I believe, the sum total that results in salvation? What are the lessons taught in the feast of unleaven bread?
Brother Snooky,
Again I beleive this verse may apply to us gentiles..
Col.2:16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
I agree that this applies to the Gentiles as well as the Jews who are in Christ. Man shall not live by bread alone, included all mankind, not just Jews, or Gentiles.
But Why did he say "a shadow of things to come" seeing he was speaking years after Calvary was a historical event? Yet those things remained a shadow of the future events. Isn't that what is written? How do we make it fit into Gods plan for humanity? Remember it is said, "that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us". He hath made us the righteousness of God. These things were written for our admonition=the Jews only? The Gentiles only? or all men?

Because not everything is completed yet, search and find the word redemption you will be surprise that to still be in the future also.

Snooky, I'm nowhere near a biblical commentary, so I can't say this conclusively, but I'm thinking Paul is referring to the end times when all is brought to completion. The fullness of the kingdom is present in Christ, but its effects are not yet fully realized. Those shadows hinted at Christ in his death and resurrection, but also hint at the day when all is brought to final fullfillment and consummation.
Hey Snooky Baby,
My darn computer is running very slowly..I've been in the Episcopal church for about 1 1/2 years before and they do a fabulous job explaining and celebrating everyone of these holydays..
And yet some prodesdant churches only celebrate a few ..such as Christmas and Easter..
I guess every man has to be persuaded with his own convictions as stated here in Romans..14. 5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it.
Verse 6 would apply to me.."and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it." shucks..[8D]I'm still working on the "Love thy neighbor as thyself." been stuck on that one for quite a while.[&o]
You have a blessed day my friend.
As far as the meanings of these holydays..BrotherForkhorn should have some good info..
If I understand your question correctly,I think when Christ was crucified, that represented the leaven, or our sins, being removed, since leaven represents sin. While I think it's very beneficial to understand the Jewish feasts and their purposes, I don't think we as Christians need to observe them. Now, having said that, I will say that nearly every important event in Jewish history revolved around those feasts. Thus, they serve as a sort ofcalender for past and future events. I don't have any biblical proof of what I am about to say but I believe that the rapture of the church will occur during a major Jewish feast. So that's one reasonwhy I think it is important to understand the feasts and their purposes. I would also be interested in any information you have on the "eighth day." It might make a good study for many of us.
Blessings.....Pastorjim
