Default I visited a Southern Baptist church today..

I really liked it alot...The only negative I had was I thought the music was too loud. The church {And this was the traditional service} was very charismatic..The pastor is sharp as a tack and every sentence kept me attentive..The congregation was very sweet..The church is built literally on a big lake..They had coffee and pastries before the service,,Teh congragation at the 9:00 service was about 100..which I think is a perfect size.Mostly every one there hunts and fishes and this is what they do to raise money or have fun..I work with the pastor's daughter and she had invited me. I know I'll never find a perfect church so I beleive I'll settle down here..They only meet on Sunday mornings..All other meetings are done in each others homes..
My wife and I still have our Sunday morning meeting at home in which we take weekly communion.

The message this morning was "Livin Forgiven"
It was excellent..

I am glad you had a good time. And your right we will never find the perfect church on earth, so the best we can do is to pray for God to guide us to where He can be glorified the most through the talents He gave us. 100 does sound like a good number.

Sister ..this is a big step for me..Pentecostals and Baptist have alot of differences....I have a real problem with "Once saved always saved." But after hearing this man this morning..I beleive I can come to a happy median..I mean come on..who on the this forum can say that they are not saved by grace? and who on this forum thinks they are going to H EL L
maybe someone else but not them LOL

Actually I've been doing a Bible study for the teachers for the last 3 or 4 years every Thursday..I switch off with a Southern Baptist person..Trust me..after a while you stop seeing the labels and simply see another brother or sister..

One thing I've learned lately..if it's going to work I need to submit myself and do zero talking about myself..He said this this morning in his message.
"We will be remembered by what we do not but what we say." I still love having a Bible study with my wife.We had a very powerful one this morning that really did a number on me..I lplan to share this Wed. on here..I Pastor jhim has already shared one for today..

The church {And this was the traditional service} was very charismatic........
That might be the teachings of that minister, because we attend Independent Baptist and there are no Charismatic techings there.........

Well,
There wasn;t any speaking in tongues..but I did see quite a few raising their hands and the pastor was playing a tamborine..and raising his hands too. They had a drummer, bass guitar and piano player..Music was loud..

So that seemed a little charismatic to me..[8D]

I had reservations about going back...actually while I was turkey hunting this morning I thought of all the reasons why I shouldn't go back..and then the Lord..

And then the Lord reminded me of this nugget He had given me along time ago...to think the best of the pastor and not the worse,,that the pastor is excited about having me there..that he likes me and that our hears will mesh..It's good to believe the best..

"Pentecostals and Baptist have alot of differences"

Chuck, for me, I try first to find some common ground. As long as there isn"™t some very basic issue such as allowing homosexuals to assume leadership roles or denying Jesus as God, then I can get along and enjoy the service.
I am a member of a Southern Baptist congregation. I too disagree with some of their teachings. But the teachings I disagree with that are being taught aren"™t harmful to anyone, so I just overlook them.

Thanks
mr-pirk
