Therefore I pose this question: If you go to Heaven, only to find that your wife, children, parents, friends, are not in Heaven, but are suffering in eternal damnation, could you truly live eternally in bliss? And if you could not, then is Heaven truly a blissful place for everyone?
In my understanding you are underestimating what
"eternal bliss" involves.
The things of this world, which include the way we
feel about each other, will be so overwhelmed by the
presence of God that it is (please forgive me) ridiculous
to think that the pitiful feelings we experience here in this
world will in any way have an affect on us then.
In heaven we are no longer given in marriage. This is hard for me to feel real fuzzy about from my perspective at this time. I would like to think that my little sweety would be special to me even in Paradise. But obviously our relationships will change for the better and our family will be heavenly. God's love and our love for God will have our spirit.

There are lots of legends of how people feeling that departed loved ones are looking after them.
I'm not sure how heaven (Eternal Bliss) is going to be manifested, but I think we Catholics pray for our departed loved ones with the idea that we will be reunited in the afterlife.

The bible tells us that we cannot look at God lest we die because God is so bright. So when He came it was in different forms. A burning bush, a cloud, things like that. We also have a helpmate (our spouse) to compliment the other one. It is to give us balance. We are to help one another. Even before the fall of man we needed a helpmate, Why? The only thing I can compose is that we are only made in Their image, and have free will. Eve and then in turn Adam chose to use their free will when they ate the fruitand man fell. But when we die and go to heaven we no longer are human, we are no longer under the fall. We will be able to see God in His true form and we will be transformed and no longer need a helpmate, and we will no longer be multiplying.
I love my children and my husband and other family and friends very dearly but I understand that we all have to make our own choices. I feel sad when I see people make choices that hurt them, and happy when they make good choices, but I need to give everything over to the Lord. He is sorrowful over every one who chooses not to believe in Him, and is joyful over everyone that is. He knows what He is doing and I trust that. And when I look at what eternal damnation is and represents it is more important to me that they make that decision for themselves to believe in God and follow Him than for my benefit. It's not all about me, it's all about HIM.
