Peter Says He Does Not Know Jesus
66 Peter was below in the courtyard. One of the high priest's female servants came by. 67 When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him.
"You also were with Jesus, that Nazarene," she said.
68 But Peter said he had not been with him. "I don't know or understand what you're talking about," he said. He went out to the entrance to the courtyard.
69 The servant saw him there. She said again to those standing around, "This fellow is one of them."
70 Again he said he was not.
After a little while, those standing nearby said to Peter, "You must be one of them. You are from Galilee."
71 He began to call down curses on himself. He took an oath and said to them, "I don't know this man you're talking about!"
72 Right away the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered what Jesus had spoken to him. "The rooster will crow twice," he had said. "Before it does, you will say three times that you don't know me." Peter broke down and sobbed. Mark 14:66-72 NIrV
Well, another year has passed and how would you size up your year? Our good friend, Peter, has had a most horrific night. Just as Jesus had told him, Peter denied knowing Him and even cursed in not knowing Him... I don't know about you, but it has been a rough year and I have made it through into Lord willing 2009 and most on this mailing list are looking to what is before them in this new year. In two of the three Gospels that have the story of Peter, they say Peter wept bitterly. Consider all that Peter has seen Jesus do, even being part of one where Peter walks on water and now Jesus is being led away to be hung upon a cross and the old man of the group can not do the right thing. Yes, everyone made a proclamation of not leaving Jesus, but the oldest member of the group failed not once, but three times in full sight of the Lord as the Lord was going through the ordeal leading up to the cross. It is truly a new year for us and maybe this last year has
been one where just maybe, we have not been the man or woman God has wanted us to be. Let each of us take some time to review and if there is or was a problem that has not been taken care of, get it taken care of through confession and understanding that He truly forgives AND forgets since the blood of Jesus takes a way sin. Now start the new year right and allow the Spirit of God to direct your paths and lead you on a journey that will honor Him. I pray that you have a great holiday time with family and friends and may His Peace be with you each!

"There's room at the cross for you."
I done good this year! Real Good! I got to know Jesus! The biggest obstacle was trying to learn forgiveness to those who trespass against me but I have learned it! Now I know how to stand firm and yet forgive at the same time! How awesome is that?!
