I am not much of reader. Its something just dont really like to do even if its something I like. The longest can read is probably 30 minutes at most then start losing focus. Now when it comes to reading the bible have the same problem. What should I do?

Focus on your relationship with Christ and being obedient to his commands. The more you live your life as Chirst did the more you will realize that youare alreadyliving the Bible.

I can relate my friend..

Let me tell ya brother..The WOrd is much different than any other book.John 6 :63 say the Word is Spirit..It is alive..It is God, ,,,It will sanctify you, wash you..give you wisdom unto Salvation..It contains the wisdom to free you..it can save you ..20 minutes daily is plenty enough time..

make a habit though of ...
A, Reading it before you start your day.
B. Than roll over on your knees and talk to Him like you would your father.
AND YOU WILL GROW...
during your lunch break..have a small New Testament..and get in a habit of reading 1 chapter there to..takes about 7 minutes.
C.when you get home leave the TV off..it has the power to undo everything that the Word was sent to do..DIFFENTLY stay away from PORN..serious gigantic stronghold..

SO..you need to cultivate that Word you read by asking the Lord to help you be a doer..THEN..you will be marveled at the power of God's Word..

DH1224,

You state that you can read for about 30min and then you begin to lose focus. Then read the bible for 30min. and then when you begin to lose focus, stop and meditate on what you just read. Or it doesn't even have to be the whole 30min. Anytime your mind begins to wander as you read God's word, stop and pray and ask God what He wants you to receive from what you just read. As Chuck pointed out, His Word is alive and it will change you if you give it a fair chance. The idea is to FOCUS on what God has for you in His word. I guarantee if you put forth the effort, God will honor that in your life. Try that for two weeks and see if it doesn't make a difference. And remember, the very fact that you are posting this is proof that God is dealing with your heart.

Blessings.....Pastorjim

Just a thought my friend. But my wife and I use what is called the Liturgy of the Hours every morning and evening. It's a set of Bible readings and prayers appropriate to the season, like Advent, Lent, Easter, Ordinary Time, etc. It's a Catholic thing, but I know that various Protestant publishing houses put out comparable devotional aids that you can use on a daily basis to help you start and end your day on a spiritual note. I'll bet you could find something like that at a religious bookstore or even on-line. I highly recommend this. Why don't you give it a shot? Books like that are pretty inexpensive too because they sell a lot of them.

Of course this doesn't mean you can't pray and read the Bible on your own. But it's a help.
