Had an interestingexperience last night.
In Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, a fellow goes to great expence and work to decorate his house and yard with "colored lights and decorations" Apparently jets flying over can see the light from his endevor. Each year it is pictured in the paper and people come from all around to see the spectical. On the way into town last night We passed a small Nativity scene that was alight. And I thought that simple light display of the Nativity was a much more significant light display than the huge light show in town.
As it happens last night was an event in town called "The Parade of Lights", where local buisnesses and organizations make up floats covered with "seasonal" lights and a parade passes through town. We were on our way to Mass and had to park a couple blocks away and walk to our church. I thought to myself, as we passed the crouds who we along the parade route, that we were going to be in the presents ofTHE LIGHT of the world.
During Mass there were references to light in the scripture readings and some of the hyms.
