Default I Am Thankful

I am thankful to be an american..it is a God given privillege to live in a land where everyone is free to worship God according to the dictates of their conscience, where everyone can vote his own convictions at the poles , where there is freedom of speech, freedom of the press ,where there is a free enterprise system, under which everyone can own property, and is not compled to yeild it to a communist state..yes, i am grateful to live in a country where there is the God inspired doctrine that all men are created equal, and that every citizen is guaranteed equal juctice under the law..
I am thankful for our glorious flag..when i behold the stars and stripes, always a a tingle joy and pride goes though my spine in the knowledge of that "This is my flag"and i am overwhelmed with gratitude to almighty God that as long as this flag ripples in the breeze, all the freedoms that we cherish will still be there.this flag represents the spilt blood of many of our kin and friends who died to preserve these freedoms we have today.. forever let us salute it with the spirit of thansgiving, and with the holy resolve that its enimes shall never haul it down from its lofty ramparts..
I am thankful for the bible, the book upon which our nation was founded..america would never have known freedom except for the Word of God..thank God for the Bible!! the atheist have bombarded it, the agnostics have ridiculed it, the infidels have blasted it, the skeptics have tried to destroy it, the romans denied it to their people and the modernest preachers have tried to scuttle it..in fact all the followers of satan have tried to destroy it..but it still stands as the imperishable, indestrutable, Word of the eternal God......it still changes lives, transforms homes, and blesses nations..THank GOD FOR THE BIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am thankful for the living church of God..i speak in the true scriptural sense, that assembly of born again, called out ones who have been changed by the power of Christ wnd who have been made members of the family of God..in spite of false pretenders, misguided religionists who misintepret the truth and wilful apostates who seek to deceive the people by advocating the social gospel, and by dening the faiththe church goes on, conqeringand to conquer and as our Lord promised.."The gates of hell shal not prevai lagainst it."

Amen brother Wayne. I don't think that the founding fathers of the united states intended on corruption. For the most part this country was founded on Christianity. I think that little did they know it would become as perverse as it is today.

God bless you

I am thankful for the hope that God has given me through Jesus Christ's suffering. His love for us is beyond comprehendable.

For the most part this country was founded on Christianity.
If that was the case why is Christianity nowhere mentioned in either the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution. And in the Treaty of Tripoli the founding fathers even stated that the United States is not a Christian country? The U.S. Constitution is concerned with the rights of individuals and the principle that sovereignty lies in the people not a in a divinely anointed ruler, making the Constitution pretty un-biblical. In the Old Testament, rulers are selected by God and their tenure was determined by how faithful they were to God's will, not the will of the governed. The United States was founded by Deists such as Thomas Jefferson who were mainly influenced by the principles of the Enlightenment which arose in opposition to the "Divine Right of Kings" philosophy that was espoused at that time by European monarchs and is characteristic of the Bible which exhorted people to honor the king.

The treaty of Tripoli was unanimously adopted by congress and signed into law by president John Adams in 1797. The founders were clear that our government is not founded on the Christian religion. People today are often not aware of the true history of america and simply substitute their own version.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Oh yea, I'm thankfull too!

I believe it's a very good thing that our government isn't founded on any religion. That's what protects all religions including Christianity.

I think the main point was that we had the freedom to worship the religion of our choosing, and worship in the way we choose. Such as we can freely read the bible (the whole bible) and we cannot be punished for proclaiming our alegiance to God.

We do however know a lot of those who founded our nation did pray to God. Not to mention our money says One Nation Under God. It also says the same in the Pledge of Allegiance.

SP10 why not just let us be thankful for what we are for once and quit policing every little thing. If you don't like it you don't have to read it. But for goodness sakes this was a thread about being thankful. I am also thankful for freedom of speech.

But in all seriousness Thank you Motor and Amen.

There were quite a few Christians among them and not all of them were masons like the Atheist Thomas Jefferson. I do agree with you that everyone has the God given right to worship whomever they choose however. I am all about protecting individuals rights under God. I for the ONE hope that they never do remove "In God We Trust" from the ONE dollar bill. Although, they should however remove the all seeing eye from it. But that ONE is not a questionable supreme being divided by folk lore. Appearantly though, the questionable grand architect that your forefathers do worship is not the one that they question at all, it's the one that they did worship prior to entry into the "fraternity" is now the one that they end up questioning. Why is that?
