Default PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY

Folks, my wife and I watched Pres. Bush come on prime time t.v. last nightto discuss the major problem this country is heading into and the seriousness of it hit me.
PLease pray that his administration and Congress together can come up with a proper solution to this financial crisis America is facing. There is no more room for pointing fingers at how we got in this mess- we need it solved NOW!!!!
PLEASE PRAY THAT GOD WILL INTERVENE AND HELP THEM FIND A WAY TO KEEP US FROM GOING FURTHER INTO A RECESSION.

This ones going to get hammered, but here goes. Wouldn't it be more biblical to pray, "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven?"

God's purpose is not for us to be happy and have our "best life now". His purpose is that He be glorified as God by every creature of every nation.

Soli Deo Gloria!

not going to get hammered by me, because i include our country and our leaders, as well as countries we are in a conflict with and their leaders in prayer every nightand peace in general

i do wonder if we as a nation would garner any consideration when this country has basically turned its back on God, He is not allowed in schools, at work, and excluded in more places daily, remember the 10 commandments being removed from the Alabama state supreme court building[&o] and judge Roy Moore loosing his position from that...it can be removed because someone/group is offended, but it means nothing that i am offended that it is removed[&o]

the erosion is taking place, maybe even picking up speed, people worried about offending others, personally i believe we have slipped out from the umbrella of "one nationunder God" and moved closer to Sodom and Gomorrah everyday

Good point, mt. If you study the OT, how many times did God place a wicked, evil king in leadership over Israel? And how many times did it drive them right back to Him. God is sovereign. May His will be done.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Kay Arthur has a nationwide prayer that has been instituted to pray at 12:00 noon each Thursday until election day. For God to intervene in our situation, not only about the financial crisis but to have the best candidate elected.
I could add more to this, but it should remain in the political forum.

Every man AND the nation that forgets God shall be turned into hell.
Preachers have been crying, Repent and turn back to God for over 40 years while immorality and ungodliness, sin and rebellion against God has increased like a runaway freight train. The media, and entertainment fields have made fortunes protraying christians as simple minded, mentally challenged, village idoits.
100,000 plus paying to see blood sports daily while Wen. night bible studies are dismissed because no-one takes the time to attend. Homes are cluttered with sinful magazines while there is no bible to be seen.
I can only trust in God to be preparing me a raven.

Snooky,

Don't be dismayed. Jesus said the way is narrow and few there be that find it. Again, study the OT. The majority of the Hebrews were wicked idolaters and God haters. But God chose for Himself a remnant. And He will complete that work He has begun (Philippians 1:6). It seems, due to the weak, pathetic gospel that has been preached in our country for the last 150 years (or longer), that we still do not realize that God is in complete control of ALL things. It's not God versus Satan, with each winning some and losing some. God is Almighty. His will cannot be thwarted, by principalities or man. Those who are Christians should not be looking for heaven on earth, but a greater manifestation of God's glory to come down. But then, that is not our "best life now." To hell with that man-centeredness. If America should fall off the face of the earth tomorrow, God will still be on the throne and worthy of all honor and praise.

Soli Deo Gloria!

5point, you are absolutely correct; we should pray that GOD's will be done , but as we are praying that, is it wrong to ask Him to intervene in this mess?
Thanks for replying..

No it is not, we are to pray to God for all the things we not only need but want. Because we are human God will decide what is best for us. Sometimes we think we need something, but God may know that it would cause more harm for us than good and say no. As long as you are not asking Him do to something immoral, or asking in malice, ask away. I pray for help getting the kids on the bus on time everyday.

A Prayer for the Nation

God of liberty,
We acknowledge Your reign.

For the freedom of our land
For the rights we possess,
For the security of our laws,
We praise You and thank You.

Give guidance to our leaders
Watch over those
Who serve their country,
Raise up the poor,
And exalt the humble.

Make our nation great and strong,
Renowned in wisdom,
Prosperous in virtue,
And renewed in faith.

Destroy all signs of division:
Take away hatred and violence;
Fill us with Your peace.
Make us one people,
United in praising You,
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
