Default Question About Revived Roman Empire

I have always heard it preached that the Anti Christ will come from the revived Roman Empire. Couldn't it be possible that the United States could be viewed as the revived Roman Empire since our basic society and rules are based on the Romans? Anyone have any views on this theory? because it seems lie to me that Obama is being set up for leadership to bring the earth togethor as one.

First there was the Roman Empire.

Then there was the Holy Roman Empire made up mostly of the various German principalities.

The there was Hitler's Third Reich. (Reich means empire.)

I think we've seen all the Roman Empires we're gonna see.

Of Course we also still have Rome within the Church of Rome, they still claim alliance to Rome by decreed calling themselves "Catholic Apostolic and Roman".

I personally would waste anymore time thinking about this.............. just because he is not a republican doesnt make him the anti-christ.

I mean to seriously post this is crazy, I mean do you think that is what is going to happen......... Obama gets elected and during his firstterm he will bring the world to an end and it will be solely his fault...... its not that dramatic......... he would be just another POTUS....... he will make good decisions and bad ones, some will hate him others will love him,if he sucks bad enough then he wont be re-elected.......... I have seen time and time again on this forum people way over reacting about what will happen if Obama get elected.

Alex, you're kind of full...well I won't say it. But the Catholic Church does not call itself "Catholic Apostolic and Roman." The only connection to Rome is that the pope lives there and the headquarters is there. The ritual is also known as the "Roman Rite" or "Latin Rite." It has nothing to do with the Roman Empire. And yes, the Catholic Church was founded byJesus Himselfthrough his commission directlyto Peter. But the only connection to the Roman Empireis that Jesus founded the Church during the Roman Empire and the Church is based in Rome.

Sheeeesh! Alex your baseless, uninformed,anti-Catholic slurs are becoming tiresome.

No, Jesus founded the church, through Peter, which became known later as the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is comprised, actually, of several segments. The Orthodox branches, the largest of which are the Russian and Greek segments do not accept the authority of the pope. But the doctrines are essentially the same, although they have some different customs and a different liturgy. Eastern Rite Catholics accept the authority of the pope but use the liturgy and follow the customs of the Orthodox. One big difference is that Orhodox (and Eastern Rite) priests are permitted to marry. But married priests can't become bishops.

The history of the Church is very interesting. You need to start with Matthew Chapter 16, starting with verse 18, where Jesus says Peter is a Rock and that He will build His community on that Rock. He gives Peter the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven and tells him that whatever Peter binds on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever Peter looses on earth will be loosed in heaven. Peter of course, being mortal, died, but passed this commission on, which he had the authority to do. Please note Jesus' "whatever."

There have been some like, totally weird attempts to explain this passage away on this forum. But it's really quite plain and straightforward. I think it was easier for me to see the truth because I grew up without any anti-Catholic indoctrination so I could look at it with an open mind. It took me a while but I was convinced eventually.

Of course, the Church has done some screwy things down through the ages, but basically the Church has been able to get straightened out. The Church does have a tremendous responsibility having received the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven directly from Jesus Himself.

I am sure that this has been a topic for discussion a lot.

As you read Matthhew 16:18 and have your opinion on it, I do not agree or believe how you interpret it. I believe The Rock is Jesus, and the Church was founded on Himand His Word, not Peter.

I am not bashing Catholics, they are saved and are good Christians and I have noproblems with them. However, I do not understand there "Traditions" or ways.
