Default Brother Copeland

Sorry Brothers and Sisters but I have to ask; why such the harsh feelings towards Kenneth Copeland? I've seen one on here call him a "wolf among sheep", several others called him a "false teacher" and I don't get it.

Why do you have such issues with him?

dk ,
I've never spoken a word against Ken Copeland.. I also used to go to "Faith" churches for about 2 years...I've seen lots of harm done buy them as well as miss quotes from the scripture to fleece the flock..I take speaking words against God's annointed very serious ...so I'm slow to speak in condemning the preacher..BUT I will condemn the prosperity message..I've seen first hand the damage that it does.I have not heard enough from Copeland to properly evaluate him..What he does do though that turns me off EVEN when I was into this message was talk down to people..making such haughty statements like "You can be sick if you want to ..but by God I've been healed by His stripes." I don't see the humility that God commands of his followers. I don't see a family and team with these preachers..I see a talking down to..a holier than thou attitude..and MONEY is BIG in every sermon..Paul spoke about these kind of folks dk...Their focus is on this present world and what we can get out of God..Their focus is wrong..We are supposed to die daily to a cross. There is no cross ever preached...but only what you can get through YOUR faith..The faith I believe in is "And that not of yourselves..it's a gift of God lest anyone should boast.."

Summary..I don't know Ken that good..he does sing well though...BUT I do oppose the prosperity doctrine as delivered by the popular preachers of today..

I know of several older women who would send their SS checks to the Copelands. What kind of person would feed on these folks?
One lady in particular comes to mind . . .she did'nt even have a bathroom in her home nor enough food to last the month but would regularly send her SS to Kenneth Copeland as well as her 90 yr old mothers. These are the kind of folk that the Copelands have prospered from.

I've haven't watched any of them for more than a minute or two while checking the TV for news or maybe something interesting to watch. I know there are a couple of guys that I see regularly and there's also a woman who walks back and forth who reminds me of one of my elementary school teachers.

But I wonder why so many people watch and send them money. I would think a believer would be going to his/her own church and only people who are curious about religion might watch. They broadcast the mass from our parish but it's for people who don't have a church or people who can't get to mass because of illness or age. There are volunteers who take communion to these people and give it to them during the broadcast so they can participate too.

Otherwise I don't get why these TV preachers are so popular. Can someone explain that?

You are exactly right...I have no idea how Bible reading Christians can fall for false teachings..especially when it involves money..UNLESS they are not Bible reading Christians..many put the denomination over the Bible.Copeland used to be Assembly of God..andI know being an Assembly we used to support other Assembly ministers no matter what..Soon though, the Assembly councel put pressure on these who were teaching a "Different doctrine" and they were forced to go independent...

Actually, as a young man I was almost taken in by K Copeland myself. I was immediatley drawn to his demeanor . . .his down home good ole boy personality. He said what I wanted the Bible to say and as I was'nt steeped in the Word his message flew for awhile. I honestly believe that a person can focus on a particular message to the exclusion of the entirety of the Word until you can corrupt it by expanding and over relating it. . . . .and that is what I have seen many do.

Very, very true Bro Mac. There is no "gospel" in a nutshell. No scripture stands alone. We live by "every" word of God. He that is guilty in one portion is guilty in all. Every scripture builds upon the other. No false doctrine is as dangerous as the one that is closest to the full truth, yet isn't totally correct.
